Seriously though, this ad should be on the air by the Falcons game on Sunday.

If you can’t turn out an ad saying “Your insurance costs are set to rise another 30% next year and billionaire health care executive Rick Jackson is spending his riches to become ‘Trump’s favorite governor’” then you’re not a real campaign.

So far it just seems like they're pulling EV forward. Good GOTV efforts. Not a huge difference in ratios of 2020 EV/eday/non-voters. I don't know if any of them are making early voting locations significantly more available.

Something to note on the demographics front, the early vote is over 35% Black right now. That's a BIG number. For some comparisons, 2018 EV ended up 30.4% Black, 2020 EV ended up 31.0% Black, 2022 EV ended up 30.2% Black, 2024 EV ended up 26.9% Black.

If you missed it yesterday, I made a big update to the county pages with more detail on previous elections. Today's news is that I've uploaded a new voter file so we have demographic coverage on 99.97% of voters.

Happy Friday, let's crunch some numbers. 170k votes recorded yesterday and the gap to 2022's EV turnout has shrunk to 29,998. If you all can put up 186,484 votes today we'll be on pace with 2022. #gapol #gapolitics georgiavotes.com

How many Georgians have voted early in the 2026 general election, by mail and in person, compared with the 2022 general election, with a county map and the breakdown by race, gender and age.

It's kind of a U-pattern within each week, Monday and Friday being the highest. The top day for early voting is always the last Friday available, and typically by a large margin.

Click around and have fun. There's a lot of new stuff to take in here. I doubt I'll be able to do the same for the other geographic breakdowns this go around since that really requires a precinct level analysis (not every race has a challenger, not every district maps nicely to a county).

One other fun comparison is Cobb vs Gwinnett. Cobb, you'll see, has been shifting steadily left compared to the state over the last few cycles while Gwinnett is mostly holding steady and just riding the statewide wave.
Cobb County has moved from voting 11% more Democratic than the state of Georgia in 2018 to 17% more Democratic in 2024.Gwinnett County, meanwhile has only shifted from 16% more Democratic to 19% more Democratic, is is basically unchanged since the 2020 election.

I recorded a short video to show you a little more about what's going on here. Fayette County is going to be a very important county this year, so it's fun to see how it has changed over the last few cycles.

A fun one for you today in early voting land. Major update to the counties page of georgiavotes.com Now you can see a better representation of the size and partisanship of each county, and dig into how it has been trending (both top line and against GA as a whole) since 2018.
The Fayette County page on Georgia Votes, showing more information about voting behavior to date and where it falls in the partisan spectrum of Georgia counties.A dynamic chart that looks at a county's margin to Democrats or Republicans over every major election going back to 2018. You can flip between the total margin, or how the county's margin compares to Georgia as a whole. This screenshot shows the second view.

Truly insane that Google is doing this while ALSO competing as a frontier lab in AI, developing the best autonomous self-driving, and continuing to print money as an advertising engine.

Reminder that until this poll came out the MattYs and Nates of the world were saying this was a silly issue for Ossoff to be focusing on. That it didn't resonate. Turns out you can make things resonate by talking about them. What a concept!

Now, I do think we can get up to 2022's volume by the end of the week. Yesterday over-performed by about 50k votes. If we do that again today and tomorrow we've closed the gap. To be at parity by the end of the week we need to get ~180k votes counted each of the next 3 days.
120
Ryan Anderson @ryana.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
You may have also heard people say voting was 38% higher than 2022's first day. That's also true, but the problem with that framing is that we lose an early voting day this cycle to a state holiday. We aren't getting that day back on the end so we need to compare by the numbers of days left.

Ryan Anderson @ryana.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
You may have seen reporting that yesterday was the highest vote total for the first day of a midterm. And sure that's true but it carries a lot of caveats. On 11/4/22 we had 230,019 votes. That's the in-person early voting record for a midterm. In 2024, it got as high as 310,000 in a single day.

Ryan Anderson @ryana.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Big day yesterday! 188,653 in-person votes cast, and just over 193k total votes recorded. We are currently sitting at 198,919 total votes, or about 33% behind where we were at the same point in 2022. But that's completely holiday related, so let's get into it. #gapol #gapolitics georgiavotes.com

The full list of races is significantly longer than 5, but I group a lot of smaller populations into 'Other' for ease of display.

Ryan Anderson @ryana.bsky.social · 14/10/2026
Respectfully, those reports are dumb. There's not an extra day of voting on the backend. So the electorate has to vote at a higher daily rate in order to hit the same total volume.

From the nerdy side, the site's been completely rebuilt on the backend. That means it's much faster and easier for me to make updates. I've got 20+ things in my to-do list, so new features are going to be coming fast and furious. I'll do my best to call out the ones I think are interesting.

Also, a lot of school systems have Fall Break this week which could lead to some funny voting patterns. But we're off and running and that's the fun part!

First up, you'll notice that things look catastrophically bad today! Well that's just because the first week of early voting fell on a holiday week, so we didn't have any in-person voting yesterday. Tomorrow will be the first real day to report numbers.

Ed Zitron used AI to create the very first chart in this piece. It made a critical error, which he did not notice because he just learned about bonds last month. THAT is the danger of non practitioners relying on AI output, you don’t know what you’re looking for. The chart is completely inaccurate.
