Greed is poison. Scarcity is a capitalized myth. Creation is beautiful. We are our own worst enemy and greatest advocate. Information wants to be free. Gender, sexuality, race, and religion do not supersede humanity.

These three are canonical from the childhood of my kids and my early childhood list as a librarian. I think it’s cadence that works so beautifully with the lovely art. It might be interesting to note that Brown didn’t have children and didn’t want them. I ponder that often.

If you never read the book or saw the movie, you missed one of the greatest Pulitzer Prize winning sagas ever written. To dishonor Alex Haley like this is disgraceful.

Alex Haley grew up in Tennessee. He traced his family tree back to his original enslaved, African ancestor, then wrote 'Roots'. He received a Pulitzer Prize for it. Knoxville just banned it 'cause it might make white kids sad.

Artemis II Return
NASA's Orion spacecraft carrying Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch from NASA, along with Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), splashes down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, at 5:07 p.m. PDT, (8:07 p.m. EDT) on Friday, April 10, 2026. For me, my "stomach ache" was just something that happened overnight. For those that are part of the fabric of my digestive system, generations lived and died and never knew a whole life time of peace. And so I think about the times we live in. Perhaps it is an overnight bout of gastroenteritis. 10.

And, I was thinking about what that means for humans and other animals; bugs and birds; trees and flowers; and everything that is somehow its own universe no matter how simple or complex. We are changed because our constituencies change. It is a truly beautiful, delicate, and intricate dance. 9/

But, I digress. I was not thinking about the demise of universal constituency when I die. Not when I first woke up. No. I was thinking about the role of bacteria in evolutionary processes. I was thinking about how worlds are shaped and permanently transformed by their inhabitants. 8/

The list of interventions goes on and on and on reaching to all the places in the universe of me that I know and don't know. There are more places that I don't know in this realm than I do. More constituents that I haven't met; more neighborhoods that I haven't visited. But I know they exist. 6/

This morning, I thought about how we are constantly being changed by our resident and transients "internal" constituents both intentionally and unintentionally. Prebiotic juices and probiotic yogurts. Sugar fasts and colonic cleanses. Vitamins for skin health and hormones for longevity. 5/

And I thought about how we organic beings at this scale I understand share our populations. There are no citizens. Just populations. Generations will remain within me while some may migrate elsewhere through myriad modes of travel between the universes of us. 4/

Last night, I had an "upset stomach." Yes, it caused me pain; but, it also provided a reminder. My pain is not just mine. It belongs to the constituency that inhabits and creates me. It is the avalanche and the tsunami and the magnetic storm and, sometimes, the war. 3/

UBI isn't shot down because it doesn't make economic sense, it's shot down because it empowers workers. You don't have to hate your job under UBI because you can afford to leave. Employers will be compelled to respect your rights because they can't count on your desperation any longer.
