Roads around the village closed today for a road race and consequently no folk around the reservoir which = more birds. Lapwing, Grey Wagtail, Mandarin and Little Egrets amongst the highlights. Can we have this race every week ?

Spent a lot of time watching a very vocal young Raven near Chatsworth, Derbyshire today perched on top of a large pine tree above its nest site which was a messy affair but fit for purpose. No sign of either parent or any siblings but to think, they will start all over again in six months…

First visit to Bryant’s Heath near North Walsham. Lots of Nuthatch, Jay and LT Tit and 100’s of Rooks feeding in the maize fields nearby. Still smelt of the fire at the beginning of August. Terrible but the fire service did well to contain it…

Winter goose extravaganza booked. Small family hotel on the shore of Öreg-tó in Hungary. Three nights for £130. Bargain. Geese, ducks, woodpeckers and owls all in walking distance and Wallcreeper nearby. My friend is a Jet2 pilot so she can hopefully get me money off vouchers for the flight 🤞
