As someone who uses AI tools for 8-10 hours a day at work and spends a fair amount of time writing skills for engineering processes, this is pretty funny

It's National Rum Day in the US. So tonight instead of my usual Americano, I made one with 3/4 oz each Campari, Punt e Mes, Appleton Estate V/X and topped with grapefruit soda. #nationalrumday

I just want to state again for the record that this is clearly a spoiler for Severance Season 3.

The funniest thing about this idiotic focus on "protecting our culture" is how far out they've had to push the definition of "our culture" to pretend they're maintaining anything. My great grandfather came here from Germany. Today the Right would celebrate that. Meanwhile in 1751...
A screenshot from Wikipedia of an excerpt from a Benjamin Franklin pamphlet bemoaning the influx of German immigrants into Pennsylvania. The excerpt reads, "why should the Palatine boors be suffered to swarm into our settlements, and by herding together establish their languages and manners to the exclusion of ours? Why should Pennsylvania, founded by the English, become a colony of Aliens, who will shortly be so numerous as to Germanize us instead of our Anglifying them, and will never adopt our language or customs, any more than they can acquire our complexion?"

He even acknowledges that crime is falling in his announcement!
Last August, Governor Newsom signed into law the most significant bipartisan legislation to crack down on property crime in modern California history. Building on the state’s robust laws and record public safety funding, these bipartisan bills offer new tools to bolster ongoing efforts to hold criminals accountable for smash-and-grab robberies, property crime, retail theft, and auto burglaries. While California’s crime rate remains at near-historic lows, these laws help California adapt to evolving criminal tactics to ensure perpetrators are effectively held accountable.

I think I found this on Reddit a number of years ago. I don't recall. A few of us were looking at different flag ideas for different states and it kind of spoke to me.
An alternative California flag with a red background, a white star in the top-left corner. In the center of the flag is a white outline of a circle, and in the circle is the white profile of a grizzly bear's head, with three arrows pointing down and to the left as a representation of the Iron Front anti-authoritarian movement.

Sometimes I reflect on my life and the fact that I have somehow stolen the rightful place of some much cooler person who was supposed to know the likes of @mbrowley.bsky.social and be graced with his insight and wit. They can have their place when they pry it from my cold, dead bacon-greased hand

"What is leftover bacon?"

I think it's also critical to point out that the article states they deported "at least" 70 citizens between 2015 and 2020.
"Between 2015 and 2020, ICE deported at least 70 people who were U.S. citizens, according to the GAO. That's not just a bureaucratic mistake - it's a constitutional violation."

When my parents moved to Texas, my dad left me boxes of his SciFi books. Asimov, Clark, Poul Anderson, Frank Herbert...and a metric ton of Larry Niven. Just look at some of his covers and this Wikipedia excerpt is very "that tracks"
ONLY ONE PERSON COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE LUNAR SURFACE...

Her name is Naomi Mitchison. She's the most beautiful woman on the Moon; she was also the only person who was outside on the lunar surface at the right moment to send a near-fatal laser beam into the chest of the Fourth Speaker for the Asteroids. But she's not a murderer, that much A.R.M. investigator Gil "The Arm" Hamilton is sure of, even though all the evidence seems to point straight at her. Trials these days are short, and sentencing for capital crimes is always the same: the organ banks, where felons wait in huge tanks to "repay society" with bits and pieces of their bodies. Gil has got to move fast to keep Naomi in one piece, or the most -beautiful woman on Luna is going to be a nicely arranged sack of spare parts.

With the aid of over fifty superb interior illustrations by Fernando Fernadez, match wits with the sharpest mind in science fiction in a classic Locked Universe mystery!THESE ARE THE STORIES OF SVETZ...

And his mad adventures with horses, unicorns, ostriches, rocs, and other unlikely fauna, both extinct and as yet unborn, and of the extraordinary difficulties into which a simple, humdrum time-traveller can get when his Department supplies him with inadequate information. But then, the Civil Service has ever been notorious for truly staggering foul-ups. Several hundred centuries ahead or behind makes little difference except to complicate matters even further... AND HERE THERE BE (ALSO) WARLOCKS, WEREWOLVES and divine witchery, Proving that LARRY NIVEN can write on both sides of the science fiction fence.Cover of Larry Niven's "The Long Arm of Gil Hamilton" Cover of Larry Niven's "The Patchwork Girl"
