Now let's see how the LNP have changed according to Karvelas. Firstly Ley was trying to move the LNP to the centre and represent modern Australia. She did this by focusing on immigration. Meanwhile the nasty Angus Taylor has fully rejected the sensible centre* TM by.. also focusing on immigration.

This complaint is the biggest waste of energy. Every single state and federal government in Australia has proposed and approved Gas expansion and exploration. I am more mad at that then the ACTU and the Aus Institute proposing a tax on gas exports.

..we do nothing
Penny Wong says Australia does not maintain diplomatic relations “as an endorsement of any particular country”, rejecting calls to expel the ambassador and sever diplomatic relations.

She tells the press conference:

We maintain those relationships because they enable us to engage in order to advance Australia’s interest.

Removing an ambassador would remove our ability to be able to engage, press for Australia’s interests.

Asked how she would describe the current status of the relationship between Australia and Israel, she asks:

Obviously it’s a difficult time in our relationship. We made our views clear about this issue.

First we cry and then...
Wong says there are still unanswered questions from the investigation:

I make clear to [the ambassador] Australia’s views that Israel’s decision calls falls short of the accountability we expect, and last night Australia’s ambassador to Israel conveyed the same message directly to Israeli authorities including the office of the foreign minister.

There are still many unanswered questions. These include why, even if the first strike was a catastrophic error, two further strikes followed, each two minutes apart …

The Australian government does not believe the removal of two officers from their positions and three officers being reprimanded is sufficient accountability for the deaths of seven people, including an Australian citizen.

And we do not have confidence in the IDF’s military advocate general’s process given many an unanswered questions.

Wong says the government has not received the drone audio, despite multiple requests by the government on behalf of Frankcom’s family.

This is the list of bare minimum actions Australia is required to do under International Law, setting aside any actions we would take in retaliation for murdering our citizens.
The first action should be a wide ranging review to identify the many ways in which Australia’s relations with Israel support Israel committing international crimes.

Trade and diplomatic measures include ceasing all defence-related trade with Israel, including dual-use products, components, materials and technology, and ending trade and cooperative ventures with companies developing military items for use by Israel. Australia should also withdraw Australian defence and trade officials from our Tel Aviv embassy and impose secondary sanctions on states conducting defence-related trade with Israel.

Accountability measures comprise Australia affirming its commitment to enforce international criminal court arrest warrants for Israeli political and military leaders, along with imposing personal sanctions against these leaders and Israeli settlers responsible for violence in the West Bank.

Legal enforcement actions include investigating and prosecuting Australian citizens who have served in the Israel Defense Forces since October 2023 for potential war crimes, crimes against humanity or genocide, while prohibiting Australian citizens from fighting in foreign armed forces. The full force of Australian law should be applied to Australians who commit international crimes, as the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, has said.

Settlement-focused measures would prohibit financial transactions with illegal Israeli settlements and end tax deductibility for Australian charities providing funding to organisations supporting illegal settlements.

Literally no investigation done. Not even the barest attempt to gather facts.
When Judge Daniel Covington asked the police prosecution if there was any evidence gathered to support those claims, she said she was unaware of any costume party at a bowling alley but could find out more.

"Your honour I could do a search online to see whether there was," she said. After a call to the officer in charge, the police prosecutor was able to establish Mr Mastrocinque told the officer he was at a costume party themed 'heroes and villains' and had told the officer in charge: "I dressed as a hero."

Judge Covington then asked if police had spoken to anyone at the bowling alley to corroborate Mr Mastrocinque's story, to which the answer was no.

Another break and a call to the officer in charge later, the prosecutor told the judge a police unit was being dispatched to the bowling alley to confirm the claims.

An hour later, the police prosecutor confirmed police found evidence there was a party.

On about the seventh occasion I saw him, he was sitting in a churchyard smoking crack. Dogs transcend social boundaries better even than sport and childcare, those usual mainstays of community expansion in secular societies.

Ending tax concessions for wealthy property investors

Homes should be safe places for everyone to live, not just a money-making exercise for wealthy investors.

However, enormous tax handouts, such as negative gearing and the capital gains tax discount are turbo-charging the housing crisis. They put billions in the pockets of big property investors, making it easier for investors to outbid first home buyers, and drive up house prices and saddling mortgage holders with more debt.

By phasing out the tax handouts for wealthy property investors with more than one investment property, we can make home ownership more accessible to hundreds of thousands more renters, and invest the tax savings into building hundreds of thousands of good-quality public homesGreens back CGT, negative gearing changes in return for extended NDIS inquiry, end to super loophole - https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-23/greens-cgt-negative-gearing-tax-changes-ndis/106831036

As Israel massacres the people of Lebanon and destroys the world economy. Never forget the day Albanese hosted Herzog at Parliament House was the same day Netanyahu went to the US and planned this war with Trump. Herzog that day in Canberra wished Netanyahu and Trump success in their plans for Iran.
President Herzog and Albanese shaking hands and smilingHerzog: I will conclude by wishing President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, who are meeting today at the White House to the discuss a very important international and regional and Israeli matter, which means the Iranian-American negotiations, to wish them success in bringing peace and undermining that empire of evil emanating from Tehran. And also discussing the next phase in Gaza, which is important to all of us, which I hope will bring a better future for all of us.

Link: https://www.pm.gov.au/media/opening-remarks-parliament-house-canberra-1NYT: The presentation that Mr. Netanyahu would make over the next hour would be pivotal in setting the United States and Israel on the path toward a major armed conflict in the middle of one of the world’s most volatile regions. And it would lead to a series of discussions inside the White House over the following days and weeks, the details of which have not been previously reported, in which Mr. Trump weighed his options and the risks before giving the go-ahead to join Israel in attacking Iran

If we share the same values as Israel our country is in grave trouble
Israeli ambassador Newman says: Israel and Australia stand in the same camp. Of moderates, modern democracies that value human rights and uphold democratic concerns. That has long characterised the relationship between our two countries. Our connection is deeply rooted in history and founded on shared values. It is only natural, for Australia and Israel to be close allies.

We share the same values, we share the same threats, we must stand together and defend our values.

I am sure this has no consequences for Australia a wittle middle power with no influence in the Middle East theconversation.com/australia-is...
Headline: Australia is sending an aircraft and personnel to the Middle East. Does this mean we are entering the war?More worryingly, Australia could potentially become enmeshed in other operations now that it has assets there.

For example, Iran has effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz to shipping traffic, disrupting the flow of oil and gas to the world.

If the US Navy takes military action to forcibly open the strait, it is possible Australia could be called on to support this, initially using the E-7A Wedgetail already in place.

Labor gov we support the war because "Iran directed at least two attacks on Australian soil in 2024... [we listed the] Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a state sponsor of terrorism." I wonder how the war has affected the terrorist IRGC?

“The Revolutionary Guard is the state now,” said Ali Vaez, Iran project director at the International Crisis Group. Before the war, the country’s civilian leadership was “subservient entirely” to the supreme leader, he explained, while the Guard was the second-most powerful force in the country.

But now, with the elder Khamenei gone and his son not enjoying the same authority as his father, “it is really the Revolutionary Guards who are running the country.”

Like the complex global system of sending a warplane? theconversation.com/australia-is...
Possible issues that could arise

This deployment does not mean Australia is entering a combat role in the war. It will instead have an enabling role – bolstering the UAE’s air defence.

Even though the E-7A Wedgetail has a clearly defensive purpose, the deployment could still be seen from the Iranian perspective as support for the US-Israeli air offensive.

In an indirect way, it could help the US. The RAAF deployment will reduce the need for the US to help defend the UAE, potentially freeing up US forces to strengthen its attacks on Iran. The Australian government’s messaging appears aimed at trying to avoid people drawing this conclusion.

...as an individual event. Compare these two paragraphs on the misinformation. Both articles talk about the misleading posts on social media claiming the attack was fake. But only Al Jazeera links this misinformation to a deliberate tactic by Israel. Curious what @osmanfaruqi.bsky.social thinks
The Minab school incident is not an exception in the record of civilian facilities being targeted by the US and Israeli militaries; rather, it falls within a documented pattern stretching across decades of military operations and attacks, in which the same scene recurs: Strikes hit schools, hospitals, and civilian shelters, followed by immediate denial or shifting of blame to the other side, before independent investigations later reveal the falsity of official claims.Shortly after the attack, misinformation began to proliferate online. Some social media accounts claimed the footage of the school was old footage shot in Pakistan, a claim that has been debunked. Several X accounts also made viral claims that the school had been struck by a misfired IRGC missile, but the photographs of the misfire that they present as evidence were taken about 1,600km (994 miles) away from Minab, in the city of Zanjan.
