Haven’t posted here in months but decided to come back to have a big LOL at the YIMBYs who had a meltdown after I pointed out their their entire framing played right into the hands of the anti-immigration right, and now they’ve literally just came out as anti-immigration. Too fucking funny.

While over 2,000 ABC staff went on strike this week, a number of high-profile presenters chose to stay at work.
lamestream.com.au
The big ABC names that refused to go on strike
As ABC staff filed back into work at 11am on Thursday morning, after taking the first strike action at the broadcaster in 20 years, the chatter was about just how effective the last 24 hours were. Lamestream reported yesterday that ABC bosses were clearly underprepared for the scale of the strike, which shut down TV and radio broadcasts, and brought the ABC News website to a standstill, pushing managers to rely heavily on wire stories and reporting from a handful of journalists around the country who refused to strike. ABC staff striking outside the broadcaster's Sydney headquarters on Wednesday. There were also a number of high profile ABC journalists who didn’t strike, and who management drew upon to report news headlines and write stories for the website. These journalists have drawn particular ire from striking staff, both because by continuing to work they are undermining the purpose of the strike which is to shut down the broadcaster and because they tend to be on much higher salaries than those taking industrial action. On Wednesday afternoon, rumours began to circulate among staff on strike that the former presenter of _AM_ on ABC radio, Sabra Lane, was being drafted in by management to read news headlines on local radio. Lane quit her role at _AM_ at the end of last year, and was on extended leave from the ABC. But on Thursday morning, she was reading news headlines on local ABC radio and making awkward banter with the fill-in host, ABC Sydney manager Nick Lowther. ### This post is for subscribers only Become a member to get access to all content Subscribe now

Good piece by @index.lamestream.com.au.ap.brid.gy about the strike at the ABC. www.lamestream.com.au/express-your... Stuff like this is almost breathtaking, if unsurprising:
Marks’ style of leadership is another flashpoint.

Earlier this month, he was due to address staff at a town hall meeting to make his latest and what he said was his final offer in negotiations. But before the meeting, Marks unveiled the offer in an exclusive with the Financial Review.

When he showed up to the town hall, Marks was asked why he’d chosen to go to the commercial media with his pay offer, instead of to his own staff. Marks replied that he didn’t have to explain himself.

This guy is too funny man. The Labor government is only 1% away from falling into third place behind One Nation, but actually the poll is a disaster for the Coalition. And believe it or not, he’s actually closer to reality than most Labor folk who still can’t accept the Hanson is coming for them.

We covered the reasons why Albanese is like this on our latest pod. It doesn’t require psychoanalysis imo. He has no moral/political centre, there is no serious left in Australia anymore and the media ecosystem is more right-wing than ever. All of that pulls an operative like him in one direction

Now Ferguson is just quoting Netanyahu to the Israeli ambassador, so Israel’s line is being delivered by the guest and the host. What a debasement of a once vitally important and constructive program.

Sarah Ferguson is asking Albanese the same number of questions about Shia memorials in Australia commemorating Khamenei as she asked about the illegality of the war. Why would Albanese *not* support illegal wars if this is the interrogation from the media class?

Other than Trump himself, Albanese is the most prolific cheerleader for this illegal war. It’s what he is devoting this 7:30 interview to doing. Totally bizarre to throw yourself on the altar of Trump and Israel.

Good opportunity for a left-ish party in Australia to start talking about a republic. They need something to start a conversation and inject themselves into the discourse. A radical re-imagination of how the country is governed and a break from sex-trafficking elites seems a good place to start.

Both major parties were so committed to criminalising criticism of Israel they rushed through legislation that is fundamentally opposed to their own values, and are reaping the consequences. No normal Australian wanted these laws. The Coalition split is just the first symptom of this disconnect.

Labor is passing laws that are more extreme than what Trump has attempted, on immigration and speech, largely at the behest of the media. But if Trump tried to do it, the same outlets would say they were bad, fascistic overreach. Insanely dumb country.
