This is literally the first I've heard of this song. No idea what it is. And I even listen to the radio.

We'd like your help with something. The one hundredth anniversary of Ursula's birth will take place in 2029. This may seem a long time away, but we’re already starting to think about how to celebrate Ursula’s life and art. We’d love to add your ideas to the mix—there's a brief survey here:

Sabsristin is the capital, so they make laws (lol). They also quarry limestone, used in building. There's not enough farmland in the province to support its population, so they import food, although most of it comes from other provinces in the realm, not foreign lands. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Education is handled individually. The wealthy hire tutors to teach their children. Poorer parents teach their children themselves. Apprenticeships are common, with those who complete their training being registered with their trade's guild. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Sabsristin uses aqueducts, rainwater collection, and wells--basically every method possible to obtain water. Magic provides electricity-like functions like light and cooling. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Within the city, people walk or ride horses or in carriages. Same goes for beyond the city, but there's also travel by boat on the river. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Doclarians understand cement, so the nicer buildings in Sabsristin are made of it, including lavish decorations made by pouring the cement into molds. Buildings get cheaper and rougher as you move away from the palace. #Septopolis #WriteSky

I have 2 worst offenders: Cheerios and Fruity Pebbles. Cheerios just taste like cardboard to me. Fruity Pebbles leave a horrible film on the roof of my mouth. Both are gross. Lots of folks in the thread saying Grape Nuts but I guess I'm weird bc I love them.

The Farralikeep Games are a celebration of the victory of Cabarros and their army over Nikennis. The games mimic the sorts of accomplishments of the soldiers, such as rock climbing and archery. Importantly, they're all played in the rain. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Most people wear a kedara, a sleeveless coat, either over a blouse or just over skin. Their trousers are called sestins and have drawstrings on the sides to make them shorter or longer. #Septopolis #WriteSky

A very common food is a cheese bun, which is a soft bread roll filled with fresh soft cheese, usually goat cheese. They range from cheap street versions that are very basic to gourmet versions that have spices baked into the bread and mixed into the cheese. #Septopolis #WriteSky

The people of Sabsristin worship the gods of stone and rain. They fear and hate the sun god. The palace really goes all out for holidays, including the Reunionalia feast that marks the end of the rainy season. #Septopolis #WriteSky

This is horrific. How much power and water is being used for nothing but the self propagation of these things? Why are we farming algorithms on an industrial scale? When the world is a burning dry husk we'll wish we'd done more to stop this.

The people of Sabsristin have glowstones that provide light and cooling stones that keep buildings cool, so in many ways the city is a lot like a modern city in our world. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Sabsristin remains enamored of the ancient battle in the Farrali Desert. It hosts the Farralikeep Games which pit athletes against each other in sports that demonstrate skills the ancient soldiers needed. Most noble families claim to trace their lineage to Cabarros's generals. #Septopolis #WriteSky

The main language in Sabsristin is Doclarian, the language of the realm. However, since there are people there from other realms, you can also hear Hallatian, Litran, Farralian dialects, and many others. #Septopolis #WriteSky

As the capital, Sabsristin is pretty diverse. Aside from Doclarians, there are desert dwellers, people from across the mountains, and people from across the sea. It's a queernorm world, so there are plenty of third gender and a gender people as well as men and women. #Septopolis #WriteSky

Sabsristin means "town on the Sabril River," which flows through the city's north side. Sabril, in turn, means something like "sun's edge" because it's the last river before the desert. #Septopolis #WriteSky

According to religious myth, Sabsristin was originally the camp for the god Cabarros and his army from which they launched their attack on the god Nikennis's desert fortress. In reality, it probably arose because it's at the intersection of several trade routes. #Septopolis #WriteSky

This gets at the core of one thing I find so heartbreaking about people who skip straight to the end with genAI. That moment when you absolutely nail something and you know it is genuinely so euphoric and they're robbing themselves of that. Why bother making anything if you can't revel in it?

Hi! I'm Elizabeth and I write SFF. My WIP is a second world romantasy. I've done a fair amount of worldbuilding but sometimes get a bit too broad scope without enough detail for a specific city. I hope to learn and grow, including from other participants this month! #Septopolis #WriteSky

The religion is mostly just window dressing. Belief factors into one plot point, and when the tension gets really high my characters wrestle with the lack of divine intervention. But without the religion, most of the story would still exist. #MythAugust #WriteSky

I love using the gods in swear words! Some are "Altreyan's tears," "sands take you," and "luck of the Bastard." Some people also use tokens or amulets. Warriors might wear a stone amulet of a spear for Cabarros's blessing, and most homes have a set of antlers for Altreyan's. #MythAugust #WriteSky

In romance, HEA is a genre requirement. I know I'd be miffed if I read a book shelved as romance and it didn't have one. I definitely use them. That said, they can vary significantly. The world can burn down around the couple, so long as they're together. #SumLuv #WriteSky

The gods are invoked and asked for their favor. People make sacrifices to help gain that favor. Many rituals involve stones or flowers to signify Cabarros and Altreyan. But the gods never show up. Are they even real? #MythAugust #WriteSky

The story follows a pretty typical plot structure, with the action leading up to a peak. But there's also a journey out to the coast and back, so that rise to a peak is kind of a loop. #SumLuv #WriteSky
