22 California billionaires have spent a combined $150 million so far to defeat Prop 40. By spending their fortunes trying to stop California from taxing billionaires, they're making the argument for a billionaire wealth tax more clearly and articulately than anyone else possibly could.

Two eps into Below on Netflix and it's giving vibes of the great old two-part TV movie The Beast, but with way better scenery, a dose of climate crisis, and an overall eerie atmosphere.

Two eps in and I'm enjoying it, especially the setting. Some climate-crisis consciousness, too.

Butterbutt. An older comic.
A four-panel comic titled "yellow-rumped warbler poem". In panel 1, a yellow-rumped warbler stands on a branch in a late autumn scene, and says "Fall is here." In panel 2, the warbler watches a brown leaf fall to the ground, and says "Winter's near." In panel 3, the warbler faces the viewer as brown leaves fall, and says "Need some cheer?" In panel 4, the warbler is showing its luminous yellow rump, and cheerfully says "See my rear."

The amount of Amazon workers relying on SNAP and Medicaid has nearly tripled since 2020 — while Amazon’s annual profits soared by over 550%. It’s the same story everywhere: corporate profits are at record highs, while workers’ share of the economy is at a record low. We must unrig the system.

On a recent road trip to Oregon's south coast and California's Klamath River, I got to stop in Willow Creek, ground zero for the flood of Bigfoot movies I love so dearly. Btw, the movie WILLOW CREEK is one of the good ones.
A very tall statue of a shaggy bipedal primate, carved from dark wood, stands outside the Willow Creek Bigfoot museum and collection.
