One fun little anecdote, I took my mom down to the event last week and we tracked down some people we knew back then. Mom brought the official program from 1977, and one gal from a club in Brooklyn, NYC came along and found her own name in the program, having fenced in Women's Foil that year.

The US Nationals were at the Portland Hilton Hotel in 1977. A local kid from Salle Auriol won the Men's Open in spectacular fashion. I was there, my father was the vice chair or something of the organizing committee. My math says that's 49 years. Maybe time to change the batteries in the calculator.

Economic development legislation championed by Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek is poised to dramatically expand the state's tax breaks for data centers, which are already among the largest in the nation.

Oregon data center operators will save nearly a half-billion dollars in local property taxes this year through three different incentive programs. Kotek's legislation, House Bill 4084, would expand the fastest growing of those three programs.
