This is an interesting chart from UK ONS data. The standardised mortality rate is an average for a specific profile of lives, so you get consistency each year. It shows the slow down in improvements from around 2013, the uptick around covid, and a reduction since then.

I think that it's hard to overstate how much anti-vax/anti-science sentiment exists in the US right now, and it seems to be getting worse (esp since the vile CDC statement issued by RFK Jr this week). It exists everywhere, and cost 82 kids in Samoa their lives in 2019, but the data is chilling.
