The way they described it was one foul was before the other. I don’t know. Just enjoyed the drama

Yeah it was messy. I think they got the right decision. Not 100% sure mind. Incredible finale

It’s a foul, isn’t it? Let’s be honest

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
No not at all. A lot of the performance was ok but with Isak (and even prime Wilson) we would have blown them away today

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
A very 2025/26 typical NUFC performance. Game should have been out of sight with 10 to go. Woeful forward play and weak mentality means they don’t win. Vital that top quality forwards and a goalkeeper are brought in during the summer

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
Shouldn’t be allowed to start with 12 players but I reckon they’ll still get beat anyhow

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
Eddie Howe, besides being a very good manager, is someone who cares about Newcastle. He cares about the people and he’s invested in community. NUFC have had too many managers for whom it’s just a job, who don’t care about the long term. We can all name them. Don’t chase out one who really gets it

I find the NUFC social media tag a difficult read these days

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
Yeah there’s definitely something in that

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
I don’t think he can. I think he is always going to be one of those players who delights and frustrates in equal measure - better as an impact sub/chaos maker

There’s been a lot of games like that this season IMO Phil. It’s not been good enough by a long chalk but late goals, controversial decisions etc could have easily seen another 6-8 points on the board.

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
A win is all that matters. Some good signs in the first half, second half was nervy and perhaps expected. Still maintain that the problems are top end. Could and should have scored 6 today

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
I don’t think I’m going to go back on there permanently. It’s so toxic. Dipped in earlier and people genuinely want them to lose. They need to cash in on Osula in the summer IMO…he must be up to £35m now
110
Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
Big calls paid off. Osula, Burn, Murphy, Willock all contributed at times. Second half was nervy but the win will do the confidence no end of good. No doubt the X whiners will still find something to complain about but let’s enjoy the win for now

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
I’ve seen him have some good games and poor games this season. He’s definitely struggled for consistency, like many others. I’d have brought him back in too though if I was Howe. I wouldn’t have kept Murphy and Osula in however

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
I always thought Joelinton would come back in. The midfield three haven’t played together since January

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
He obviously feels he can’t play Elanga on the right. I get that to an extent but there’s other options like Barnes and Gordon (if fit)

Much improved Newcastle performance. The same old issues of a lack of quality in the final third remain, plus switching off at times defensively. But a lot of positives to take despite another defeat

Imagine they hadn't brought in another striker, everyone would have been slagging them off also 😀 The scouting is very good. They identify stars way before other clubs. Pedro, Ekitike etc. The fact they don't sign isn't a failure of scouting, it's a failure of not having a CEO or SD or ££
100
Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Well they weren't the only options, were they? Ekitike, Delap, Pedro, Mbeumo, Sesko, Watkins, Ramos, Cunha - all higher on the list than Woltemade and Wissa, but couldn't land them. They had to sign 2 strikers. They ended up with Germany's main striker and someone who got 20 goals in PL last season

Yeah it's not been great since the international break

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Elanga, I accept. I don't think the other 2 were in the top 8 striker targets but it came down to either buy them or go into a season with no forwards at all. And selling clubs knew that so held them to ransom. Impossible situation after the Isak debacle and no sporting director or CEO

Ross Gregory @rossgregory9.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
I don't think progress is ever linear. Always ups and downs. Do you then just bullet a manager after one poor season (some of it his fault, some of it down to others) or do you stick by him, show some loyalty and go again?

Chelsea are often used as the model that works, regularly changing managers and still winning trophies. That's not the type of club I want to support, though - ruthless, soulless, with an entitlement that makes you want to scream. See Spurs also There's a risk that Newcastle could go that way.

I wrote this piece in February. 10 weeks on and with Spurs and Chelsea having gone through another 3 managers between them, it still feels relevant www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/footba...

Tough tough watch. Ponderous in possession, so many players off the boil. At the other end, they look nervous and lacking structure/solidity. Liverpool will destroy this defence on this viewing
