The good news is my wet plate back seems to totally fit and should work. The bad news is I estimated the tolerance wrong so a 1/16 darkslide is definitely too thick. 😅 #BelieveInFilm
The open back of a 19th century style camera with a 3d printed back installed. But the back is wide open because it needs 2x dark slides to function and it has none. Closeup of the top of the plate holder sliding out of the camera. The front of the star camera.

Some rare film in the mail today, from a brief time (supposedly only something like 2-3 years) in the late 80s / early 90s when Foma was making their own E6 film. Honestly I don't have high hopes for it working but like always I will at least try.

Honestly I'm glad I decided to be an eccentric artist instead of something like a spiritual teacher. I can talk about spiritual things and it's more just the expected eccentricity of an artist with an unusual process.

The path to/from Wharram Percy deserted medieval village. Likely founded in the 9th or 10th century, flourishing between the 12th and early 14th centuries, but by the early 16th century was almost deserted, as a result of gradual abandonment and forced evictions.

I keep my cat indoors as much for her safety as for the safety of all the native wildlife she could kill. And a lifetime as an indoor cat has given her the softest fur you can imagine.

Not sure I'm quite ready for the scans from "The Stones We Throw." The double whammy of reliving the reliving is going to be one of those rare emotions no one tells you about. Add to that the intensity of seeing a project so long in the making come together (even if this wasn't the last shoot).

When people ask me where I'm from, they have to be specific. Because "where were you born?" "Where did you grow up?" "What's the first place you remember living?" and "where did you live the longest?" All yield different answers from me.

Moba Geographic Photography captures a sand cat with its kittens; the only cat species considered primarily adapted to true desert habitat. Their paws are covered with dense fur that helps insulate them from hot sand and makes their tracks surprisingly faint. #AGoodPlace

With a few very rare exceptions the only coin minted from around the 760's to 1279 was the silver penny. Fractions would be achieved by cutting the coin, in half for a halfpenny, and quarters for a farthing (aka fourthing) From 1279 under Edward I round fractions were produced.

This project basically took me in one weekend from someone who plans and talks about ambitious art projects to someone who does them! And as much as this was a personal, emotional journey it was also, I think, my evolution as an artist.
