There’s something special about capturing the perfect alignment between a London Underground train and a station poster. With patience and a little luck, these fleeting moments can produce wonderfully amusing and unexpected photographs.

Screenshot of paper title and abstract. 'Beyond AI: Infrastructuring the Common Good': "Rather than taking AI as a central focus, this paper treats it as diagnostic of deeper contradictions. AI intensifies extractivism while being unable to deliver on its promises, and its rampant scaling of energy and resource demands heralds a form of ‘total mobilisation’. This paper proposes decomputing as a programme for pushing back against such technocratic nihilism. Decomputing adopts a degrowth framework and advocates for reclaiming agency through deautomatisation and people’s coun- cils, in order to develop convivial alternatives that centre an ethics of care. It is a philosophical and tactical response to the wider crisis of care induced by the collapse of existing systems..."

Na’amod spoke to @haaretzcom about the @jlc.uk and Board of Deputies' disgraceful response to reports of UK government measures to sanction trade with illegal Israeli settlements.
Na'amod, an anti-occupation Jewish group, said it "welcomed" the measures reported this week, saying "it is the minimum response" to Israel's ongoing unlawful actions.Na'amod, in a statement to Haaretz, said: "British restraint in the last three years alone has coincided with 68 new settlements, record settler violence, tens of thousands of Palestinians forcibly displaced and a land-registration regime Israeli ministers describe as annexation. This restraint has a map and a death toll."The group also rejected the Board of Deputies' argument that focusing "narrowly" on Israeli government actions "fuels a climate of hatred [...] towards British Jews."

"That argument only works if British Jews are answerable for what Israel does. We reject that premise absolutely," Na'amod said."The harsh reality is none of these actions have had any influence on the situation on the ground," the JLC said, warning that "broad, untargeted measures may inadvertently become a wider boycott of Israel."

Na'amod rejected that argument as well, saying that "contrary to the Jewish Leadership Council's statement, Britain is not 'singling out' Israel. Britain already restricts trade with illegally occupied Ukrainian territory. What is exceptional is that Britain has spent years applying a different standard to illegal Israeli settlements."

When my wife did chemo and radiation, she would go outside once or twice a day and shed the hair as it all fell out. Today, seven months later, we just found a nest a bird (likely a wren) made out of her hair.

The fight for the first rural council housing in England (in 1894) - led by FD Perrott, the 'Radical Vicar of Ixworth' and the Ixworth Agricultural Labourers’ Association. municipaldreams.substack.com/p/stow-road-...
Text: Under the shadow of the luxurious ‘Hall’, at the gate of the tenant-farmer’s comfortable homestead, the labourer (upon whose work both live) drags out a hard life, compelled with wife and children to find shelter and make ‘home’ under a roof beneath which neither squire nor farmer would stable their very cattle.
