From Josie Stratman (NY Daily News): “Mayor Mamdani on his "Talk with the Mayor" twitch stream reveals an old username: airnova2112 (after Mars 2112) Apparently a 15-year-old Mamdani used the username to come to the defense of his director mom, Mira Nair, from haters on online film chat boards”

“First off, the first movie, New York I Love You, is a collection of 12 short stories I believe, and so cannot be considered solely Nair's movie, but simply understood as having a short that she directed. Even so, the movie has grossed about a million dollars, and will gross much more on the foreign market and dvds and such. The only film to really compare it to is Paris Je'Taime, the same concept but with a different city, which made 4 million something by the end of its US run, and was considered a success, thus NYILY can hardly be considered a "bomb". Then for Amelia. Although it received pretty harsh reviews across the board, for the most part, it has recouped 9 million and still boasts a place in the top 10, and is 4 in terms of screen averages of the top 10. It looks good to go on to make more money, and then there is the huge foreign and dvd market once again. One should really think before one speaks, or in this case, posts.”

Mamdani is close to going 3 for 3 in his Dem congressional primary endorsements, unseating two incumbents and one incumbent's chosen successor. This is a huge moment that confirms that progressive populism is not a fluke among the Democratic base, and Mamdani is the party's legit star and kingmaker.

I wrote about Zuckerberg's texts with Musk and how they undermine the principles of a fair and equal platform for everyone www.platformer.news/zuckerberg-m...

To speak plainly: the CEO of the world’s largest social media company should not make commitments about content moderation — on a contested political question, during a period of active public debate — by private text message to a government-adjacent figure with whom he is deeply commercially entangled. To do so is to replace a content policy based on principles including equality and fairness with one based on oligarchs trading favors in secret.
