I love that this is available through libraries.

It’s not like the news business was flourishing in 2015 — together FB, Craigslist and Google sucked the ad revenue out of news — especially local news — almost decade earlier. The pivot to video was a minor cliff in that decades-long decline.

Not just newsrooms, it gutted a lot of the first wave internet media companies like CollegeHumor. Complete and fraudulent destruction

Goth doesn’t like it when you badmouth him in private! Be like Shkreli and say it on main!

The letter from Twitter's lawyer to Meta over Threads is comically bad. There's no substance, just a vague claim that Twitter employees Elon fired had some sort of dark magic in their brains about how to make a microblogging service.

Goofy letter from Musk's lawyer Alex Spiro. Zero substance.

every time an airbnb host calls me one of the nicest/kindest/best guests they've ever had, I imagine I'm knocking off five years in purgatory

A sense of kindness with no expectation goes a long way in that regard. They say beauty is always subject to change in the eyes of the beholder

An art movement that reflects this kind of structural forbearance could conceivably be referred to as nouveau pastiche in design

I could be wrong about the timing but it’s starting to reveal itself to me past some threshold it hasn’t crossed before

I think I feel it coming. Over the next couple of days, maybe it might take a week, I am going to attempt to write the densest essay I’ve ever written. It’s sort of “visa’s theory of everything” and it’ll probably include almost every single one of my talking points, from a hopefully fresh POV
