More @roost.tools docs site updates! We’re now serving project docs from the shiny new docs.roost.tools domain. Idk what to do with the bare domain yet, so it currently redirects to roost.tools, but projects get a nice URL like: docs.roost.tools/coop/latest More to come soon. 👀

Who else is using @roost.tools’ Osprey for moderation on ATProto? Would there be interest in some sort of shared repo for UDFs and Plugins?

The @roost.tools community site now shows contributors from the GitHub API! It doesn’t reflect every contribution to the community (e.g. folks who are active in working groups or chat but not on GitHub), but it’s a start to try to visualize who the ROOST community actually is. community.roost.tools

We’re still refining our processes, but I think we went too long between releases! 😅 For a relatively minor update, there’s so much good stuff coming in Coop 1.1.0. And a ton from adopters using Coop in production, or first-time contributors. It’s exciting to see this community grow and develop. 😊

Two of my repeated (but favorite!) conversations at TrustCon were about how other trust and safety organizations can open source some of their work, and how to _actually_ consume open source software. You hit the download button and then..? Now written up, and with slightly better artisanal visuals

When it comes to using open source, teams have to decide whether to self-host (and keep full control of the data and infrastructure) or use a vendor-managed version. Perhaps unsurprisingly, there is no right answer! It depends on a team's existing infrastructure, data requirements, and capacity.

Open source is new territory for trust and safety! more safety tools are being released free or open source than ever, but this is a new practice. what does it actually mean to release something as open source, and what does it take to run open source tools like Coop or Osprey for a team?
