One of the reasons I LOVE Brindlewood is that it pushes people to play older women, who in real life are often overlooked. And to go even further, players are pushed into making their old woman characters very fleshed out, and not just joke “old lady” characters!

Oh I did also play the "hot" playbook in The Between for an AP, but that whole playbook is about outer beauty being a mask for a truly horrifically ugly personality so...a little different.

Yes, same! I'm playing a very plain-looking character in Good Society who is trying to marry for love despite her looks. Also my favorite VtM class is Nosferatu, in large part because they have the ugly bane.

Ironically I think about how I am NOT hot irl a LOT, haha. I think that means the fantasy I'm fulfilling in TTRPGs is not "a world where I am hot" but instead "a world where hotness doesn't matter as much/there's a much wider range of attractiveness"

I of course have had characters who were into NPCs, and of course other people describe NPCs as hot and maybe my character cares, but as a player I really don't care and don't really connect to the "are they hot tho" question and as a GM I really don't know how to answer it when asked, haha

Is this a safe space to admit something? I don't really try to make my TTRPG characters hot, and actually I usually try to give them some kind of trait that isn't conventionally attractive. And I don't think (as a player) I've ever asked if an NPC is hot. I just really don't care.

Anyway here is my latest attempt at a low-charisma character. She's a former circus performer who spent the last 8 years in a bunker with her twin she also had to kill her "dad" but that happens in the apocalypse don't worry about that too much

The last time I was in a D&D game, I played a character who got lost in The Dreaming for a really long time and was very unsettling but then I kept putting her in situations where she was kind of the face of the group and everyone kept forgetting that I had +0 to Charisma
