There are no new genres anymore. It's just a sub-genre of Jimmy Jazz.

Roland Oakes @rolandoakes.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Primary School was finished around a year ago and I've literally just found out that due to a wrong global setting in Cubase everything I exported was slightly sped up. Oops. Fixed it now.

I want to make music with this much energy. I used to play all four tracks from this on pirate radio years ago and I haven't listened to it in a long time. Just been dancing around the garden to it while one girl is on the trampoline and another on a scooter. open.spotify.com/album/3PCcOr...

I certainly didn't have one in 1987. My first CD was 1991 and I didn't even have a CD player then, but my brother did.

It won't let me reply to this so I'm quoting instead. Only In My Dreams is an absolute banger.

I got this on tape for my 9th birthday. I LOVED this album.

This thread is a rabbit hole well worth going down. Or just listen to the skill on display here. Amazing stuff. No edits, just pure talent.

Roland Oakes @rolandoakes.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

It went on for quite a bit more than that a while ago but has dropped in price gradually. Around a tenner a tape isn't actually that bad at all. I won't be buying it either though!

@audioobscura.bsky.social made this for the Bibliotapes series from The Dark Outside, based on the book 1984. It was very limited and you can't get it anymore. He's giving it away on digital now. Very highly recommended.

Yes - very well thanks. Still getting to record fairs and second hand shops whenever I can! I've had a couple of bits out on Wormhole World this summer, one of them with contributions from Audio Obscura and Jez Thelwell as well as others, which has been fun. I hope you're doing well mate.

Roland Oakes @rolandoakes.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

I certainly will. It reminds me of the period of time that I was spending far too much on tapes post-lockdown! Hello, by the way. We used to chat sometimes on Twitter. I was matto or something like that. My main account here is @omatt.bsky.social but I set this one up as I had some music to promote.

I'd forgotten all about that one. I'm going to give that a listen over the next few days.

Easily one of the best things I've bought from @wormholeworld.bsky.social I got a free 12" with a Coldcut album when I was around 10 years old. One side was basically just tracks of repetitive loops. I loved it and I still love a good repetitive loop. wormholeworld.bandcamp.com/album/bureau...

I knew she was but didn't know the rest. I rarely respond to your posts but always love these bits of music trivia ❤️

Roland Oakes @rolandoakes.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

Wait, what? I knew about Merlin and Smiley Culture but not the Lauraine and Bradley connection. That's a great bit of trivia. I'd like to think that would be a pub quiz winning fact one day.

De La Soul and a 1 mile walk to the pub in the sun. Not a bad way to start a weekend at all.

Really been a great day. Thanks for the support with my Dream States, its a few months old now but this is the 1st #BandcampFriday & pleased so many have picked it up. Half price digital if you use code august makes it £2.00 or only £6.50 BCFriday price on the dwindling supply of CDs.

I don't remember the first time I heard it, but I remember Bombscare being all over pirate radio at the time. That B side seemed much bigger than the A side.

I'm sure you know it already, but it's always a pleasure to hear again. It's at 12.50 on this video. As I say, my cousin's CD had this. Mine, purchased many years later, has the single version. youtu.be/MlCeWPguvdQ?...

I have an issue with this song. My cousin bought the album before Midnight was a single. The drum beat really made it. I loved it. I bought the single which had the original beat replaced with a more radio friendly one. Annoyed, obvs. I've since bought the album WHICH NOW HAS THE SINGLE VERSION ON.

It's actually worth sharing the track list for Now 1. As compilations go, it's not bad at all. An absolute belter, in fact.
