My Lai is a useful reminder that the willingness of #American political leaders to exploit divisions to the point of illegality and immorality is nothing new. It remains a tragedy that —we cannot all agree that killing 504 unarmed civilians is a war crime of unspeakable evil. #history

This is a lot of words for ‘European colonizers stole our stuff. They stole everyone’s stuff’

Photo of a sign at a Nepal art museum that says during the mid and later part of the 20th century, hundreds of thousands of historical paintings and statues of intrinsic and spiritual value left Nepal

There are three paintings mentioned specifically and it says they are in private collections or museums in France and Switzerland

I woke up reading about some white South African refugees to the U.S. who went back to South Africa for private healthcare, then can no longer return to the U.S. (Because you can’t legitimately say you’re a refugee if you’re still finding it safe to return to the place you had to escape)

Among the many problems with vibe coded slop: you have one person projects trying to take on giant things. It’s a bit like cooking poorly out of your kitchen and then trying to supply to a national grocery chain, with no standards or capacity. I think those folks are finding out that the […]

I genuinely feel that ‘liberal arts’ is just like ‘communism’. In that people who don’t know both things have no idea what they’re talking about when they’re dissing them.

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company.
Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code.
Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow?
