Fallout 3 acttualy had to rename Morphine to Med-X before release, because otherwise it was refused classification in Australia 🙃

Spotted this little white faced heron chilling on a driveway while walking back from the gym yesterday. No idea what they were doing so far from obvious water but cool to see nonetheless.
A white faced heron, with white plumage around its eyes and throat (hence the name), and blue-grey feathers across the rest of it, stood on a concrete driveway besides a flowerbed full of various different flowers

Too many people are *already* getting to a point where they get angry/upset with media for not treating the characters in the story that studio is telling in the exact way they themself would headcanon them. We don't need this getting worse. I want to be told a tale by a writer, not told to DIY it

Another reason I'm glad I'm leaving NSW soon. NSW cops are already cooked enough without adding an extra layer of ego-tripping cunts with long rifles marching around the streets. They'll already taser a 95 year old woman, who needed a walker, to death and repeatedly target queer bars for drug raids

He did mention the other day, while sephiroth posting again, that if he ran things by comms then nothing would get posted so he just ignored them. So makes sense they'd have fired them because otherwise they're paying someone to do absolutely nothing but question their own sanity constantly
demon core vidal:

i am again going to politely entreat on you to stop posting about any policy anything without running it past your comms team. as politely as possible, you are not actually capable of being appropriately objective, which you *should* be when talking about policy

aaron rodericks

Yes I've tried that and we then don't post anything. See nearly any post from the safety account as an example.
Users keep demanding policy explanations daily and then make up their own random stories when there's usually an objective and repeatable process on our end (since we train mods).

I would argue that the single biggest reason that the Populist Right hasn't ascended in Australia the way it has in the USA & the UK is our voting system: Compulsory voting, & Preferential voting. In other countries, it's easy for the current ruling party to suppress the vote, but not here. #auspol

I don't even understand what this new group is supposed to be for(other than the obvious pandering to heightened tensions after Bondi), given the State Protection Group already existed? Is it just giving them some sort of excuse to patrol busy events in Sydney with long rifles rather than pistols?

I still end up buying stuff from there, because trying to get things elsewhere ends up being wildly impractical and/or insanely priced (especially if someone decides to charge infinity money for international shipping), and it still has no info. Assume I turned some setting off before that broke it

The British conservative use at least had some wordplay at work with the whole Great Britain angle, the US use of the whole Great Again shtick is just lazy and derivative

Róisín 🏳️‍⚧️ @roisin.northsky.social · 06/10/2026
The funnier thing is, while the Reagan campaign came up with Make *America* Great Again slogan, it was in actual fact just a lazy repackaging of Thatcher's use of the phrase Make Britain Great Again, which itself was going back to a phrase Tories had used since the 50s.

Started my week, after the long weekend, with a solid heavy deadlift day Final programmed day of 5 sets of 5 reps on my heavy day, and after accidentally doing 130kg instead of 125kg I kept with that new pattern and went for 135kg as my working weight today So 3,375kg total weight moved before 7am

I don't even think they want the douchebag utopia ending, I think they're incredibly mad that they're being forced to run a social media platform instead of just creating a protocol and shifting responsibility to everyone else while they pull in douchebag dollars from more private finance rounds

I feel like the big risk is that bsky self immolates via moderation decisions to a sufficient extent that it kills the whole ecosystem before groups like blacksky and northsky can scale up sufficiently to be able to shoulder the core moderation burden themselves. Idk where anything goes from there

The gulf stream collapse isn't even required, at the previous Bolsonaro era deforestation rate they're as little as 8 years away from hitting the point where the Amazon's rain generation capacity is interrupted, which then drives further collapse of the forest and eventual transition to dry savannah

Eugh, I'd been completely unplugged from recent events in Brazil. Given the environmental context it's extra worrying, as climate change is already driving more severe fires (and the building record breaking el Niño will surely supercharge this), elevated intentional clearance will be devastating

If a small studio did even half of what the ratings boards have listed, they'd be refused classification in Australia. But apparently the rules are different when you're as big as Rockstar are and you can just have: realistic interactive drug use, actual sex scenes, and detailed decapitations.

So until any of the alternate platforms hit a critical mass that allows them to fully decouple from bsky moderation, there's actually no alternative to being impacted by Aaron's dumbass decisions and management
0161
Róisín 🏳️‍⚧️ @roisin.northsky.social · 04/10/2026
Also notably, blacksky and northsky (currently at least) still rely on the well funded backbone of bsky's central moderation, which as of January 2025 had at least 100 employees servicing their 24/7 moderation service, to do the heavy lifting.

I had a quick look to see if there has ever been a year where the US has had negative net migration, and the answer is apparently that the only previous time this occured was in the 1930s during the height of The Great Depression. Cool cool cool
