It is violence because it creates negative health outcomes, reduces quality of life, and results in the preventable deaths of disabled people. When you're also trans, you face a whole other load of bureaucratic violence.

They play power games for no reason. Put the onus on disabled people to repeatedly prove they are disabled every few years. Punish you for not completing a form on time. "Lose" forms. Straight up lie (worth recording interviews yourself/taking a witness to avoid this).

Forced to show three months of bank statements (because they didnt bother to google what a housing cooperative is). Had the money I need to cover the extra costs of my disability taken away. Been forced to apply for jobs whilst being clearly severely mentally unwell and homeless.

In exchange for a meagre income (as a disabled person who is unable to work)..I've faced sanctions, been treated like a criminal, been dehumanized, threatened, had invasive questions, been misgendered, acccused of lying about my own experiences, had to go through two tribunals..

I'm autistic (formal diagnosis) and recently got denied PIP (again)..one of their reasons was that I couldn't be cognitively disabled because I have GCSEs. Which is utterly insulting to all the cognitively disabled people with university degrees.

Autistics have spiky skills profiles. We can excel academically but not be able to cook a meal or hold a conversation. People think autistics are either quirky savants or belong in an institution, with no in-between.

Been thinking about Jason Arday and the ableism aspect (obv racism is a big part). How people couldn't grasp that an autistic black man could be academically successful. That he must either have been cheating, or lying about being non-verbal as a child.

Many of the happiest and healthiest elderly people I know are the ones who volunteered or started seriously engaging in hobbies when they retired. Humans crave purpose and enrichment in their lives! A universal basic income wouldn’t stop most people from contributing to society. Promise.

Glyphosphate is dangerous, not only does it add to ecosystem destruction, it also causes cancer in humans. Its entirely unnecessary and bonkers to be using when there is a declared climate emergency.

If you go to the pesticide action network website, you can search your council and see where they are spraying glyphosphate and how much it is costing them to do so - Swansea Council spent £124k on glyphosphate in 2024.

My local council are publicly patting themselves on the back cause they've planted some wildflowers next to the main road - which is great, but they've also been spraying glyphosphate along all the pavements in the area 🤷‍♂️

I don't see my garden as for me, I'll plant things I enjoy and will grow well but also leave some weeds and let the edges of the lawn go wild, because I do not own this land, I share it with an ecosystem. (The grey squirrels do drive me mad in A/W though!)

BBC gardeners world tells me I should protect my nasturtiums from them, or kill them! I have plenty of nasturtiums and the caterpillars can have them. I get that its annoying when bugs eat your plants but all our insects are going extinct and we've lost all our birds.

The title for this came from the discovery that the French for 'still life' - 'nature morte' means 'Dead nature' .. which I loved as someone who makes art of dead things and nature! So translated it to the welsh.
