(1/3) Over the last decade, the NEI budget has grown by 27.6% from $702M in 2012 to $896.5M in 2024. But here’s the catch: biomedical inflation has risen by 32.8% during the same period. 📉 Adjusted for inflation, the NEI’s purchasing power has actually dropped by 5.2%. #Ophthosky #MedSky #Science

While going on tirades about H1B visas, everyone has apparently forgotten the >100k residents who exist MedSky
You can't work 80 hours a week and raise a family or do much of anything outside of exist solely to work. This isn't American, it's indentured servitude and company leaders asking for it just want cheap laborImagine being ok with working 80 hours a week for 40 hours pay.FischerKing & @FischerKing64

People who claim to work consistently 80 hours a week (or more) really mean they work some lower number, like 50, but are always physically present in the workplace 'just in case' and mainly to brown nose the boss. They do all kinds of things in the other 30 hours - like just sitting around with their thumb up their ass. It's a workplace culture - hunger games culture - that obliterates private life while adding little (or nothing) to productivity. Totally dysfunctional - but it generates fees, so everyone plays along with the theater, and always claims he's doing more than he's doing.
