Pleased with the way the Tiger 1 road wheels are shaping up, but flippin’ ‘eck does it take forever. So many wheels!!! I now need to figure out the best way to add some subtle wet mud splashes without ruining everything. The terrain would have been black peaty mud. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Some more WIP shots of the Leningrad Tiger. I’ve finished the detail painting and have achieved the general patina that I was after. I’ve avoided the wheels and tracks until I decide on suitable weathering for autumn 1942 in the Mga sector (which was muddy apparently). #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Leningrad Tiger update: oil dot filter and pin-wash mostly finished on the hull, just a few bits to finish and tidy, then on to the turret. With that out of the way, I can move on to some dust and earth effects. Not sure whether to add some light chipping. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

This is probably the most complex build I've ever done. RFM is not to be trifled with, #histscalemodels. I haven't added a few of the more fiddly parts and the snow chain wheels due to their delicateness, but the Struker MGS is about ready for prime time.

Progress on the Churchill, weathering next to tie it all together. I’ve never had so many issues with superglue not holding though, I had tools and spare track links just pop off multiple times, regardless of which glue I used. Absolutely infuriating 🤬 #histscalemodels #scalemodelling

I started this Churchill back in August as part of a GB on Britmodeller (thanks @stefjn.bsky.social) but missed the Oct deadline. I love a pin-washed finish, but flippin’ heck, there’s a lot to pin-wash on a Churchill. Looking forward to doing some OPR next. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Thanks to everyone who helped me come to the correct decision and leave the figure off the base… the feedback was almost unanimous. I’ve just got a couple of things to tidy up and some stowage to glue into its final position, but the base is complete and the truck is in place. #histscalemodels

Ok #histscalemodels hive-mind, I need your opinion. I’m entering this LRDG truck at Scale ModelWorld in Nov, and if I put it into the military soft skin class, I need to leave the figure off the base, otherwise it’s a dio. So, figure on or off? I’m not sure it stands up as a dio. #scalemodelling

Finished my first ever vignette over the weekend for my Meng Kubelwagen. Pleased with how it turned out, and I’m fairly happy with the figure (still need to work on faces though). Might do another for the Land Rover. Should be taking it to Stoke end of the month. #histscalemodels #scalemodelling

The AK Land Rover Series IIa is finished. It’s inspired by Robin’s Landy from the TV series Strike. I made a few modifications, including removing the side windows in the hard top, replacing the bonnet, and scratch building the tow bracket and spare wheel mount. #scalemodels #scalemodelling

Update on the Land Rover. I was hoping to get it finished for the end of the month but decided I wasn’t happy with the hard top, so stripped it and started rebuilding the sides. I think I may have to redo the wheels as well 🙄 Bonnet, doors and front bumper dry fitted. #scalemodels #scalemodelling

Managed a bit more on the AK Land Rover. Fairly pleased with the outcome, despite a few setbacks and daft mistakes. Pin wash and oils next. I also need to redo the opposite side of the hardtop but that can wait for another time. #scalemodels #scalemodelling

I think I’ve pretty much finished the raw metal finish for the Land Rover bodywork. I’ve treated the bulkhead and frame differently to the panels to differentiate the types of metal. Next will be several layers of chipping fluid and shades of blue for the look I’m after #scalemodels #scalemodelling

The Land Rover is starting to look more, well, ‘Land Rovery’. It’s a bit different for me, although it’s continuing my current four-wheeled theme after the LRDG F30 and the Kubel. Back to armour next though with a Sherman II to start and a Panzer III to finish. #scalemodels #scalemodelling

That’s the Meng DAK Kubelwagen finished. It’s a lovely little kit, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Built pretty much straight from the box, I just added Def Model wheels. Painted with Mr Color, Tamiya and AK Real Colors. Weathered with enamels and oils. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

I can’t believe how little progress I’ve made on the LRDG F30 recently (I’m blaming work and Christmas), but I’ve finally got the cab and flatbed glued in place. I just need to finish off some weathering then move onto the driver and stowage. Fitting the driver’s going to be fun! #HistScaleModels

Slow progress on the Thunder Model LRDG F30… chassis and engine mostly complete, and the cab is coming along. Experienced some fit issues with a bit more filling than I would expect, and the instructions are littered with errors and omissions, but I’m enjoying the build so far. #histscalemodels

LRDG truck update: I lost a tiny bracket to the carpet monster & despite hours of searching, I couldn’t find it so made a replacement. The profile’s not quite there and my punch and die set didn’t go small enough, but it’ll do & you shouldn’t really see it anyway. #histscalemodels
