If I see one more shortform video involving restaurant staff scraping melted cheese off one of those long bars of cheese and onto the customer's dish, maybe a plate of pasta, bread, or meat, tableside, with a sort of entertainment flair, while the diner is agog, I'm going to absolutely lose my shit.

I don't understand how we got here as a society. There are countless people -- fans, even -- that say "Mario" correctly but pronounce the beginning of "Wario" like the word "war" instead of like "Mario". It's been happening since I was a child and has only gotten worse. This is not sustainable.

At some future point in time, the pain of shrinkflation may start to overcome the enjoyment I derive from limited-time flavors of Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day hand soap.

If you really really hate something, that's a sure signal that it will become incredibly popular or widespread. If you really really don't want something to happen, it will definitely happen, and soon. If you don't feel strongly about something at all, it probably doesn't matter and isn't important.

Just finished The Magus (1965) by John Fowles. Mindblowing. Masterful prose, page-turning suspense, sensuality, layered meta-narratives, predictive commentary on world culture... Then I tried "There Is No Antimemetics Division" (2025) by "qntm" and it was a bunch of stupid numbers and shit. Lol

it's BMS season, so I've been writing a SP-to-DP chart randomizer for BMS and testing it on BOF21 entries that don't have 14k. it's coming along surprisingly well (and also, I get to play all the songs I want now, which is great) sample play of a couple SP sl5s www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2L_...

Haven't been able to find Diet Coke with Lime anywhere. Seen a lot of people uploading photos with it, which, okay, good for them. But honestly this hurts. I've posted so many bougie dinners and included a Diet Coke in the background, you know, to signal being a fan, but apparently they don't care.

Speech changes that recently infected everyone: - "I'll do the..." instead of "can I get..." at restaurants etc - Pronunciation of T/D has softened into a sort of "pop filter" or compressed sibilant. The word "and" has become "ands" or "anz" - People start every other sentence with "I feel like..."

Seems like incremental changes to the Coke Zero formula have tuned it considerably sweeter over the past few years. It's making it harder to stomach each day at 7:30 AM

In the past 2 weeks, I've listened to the soundtrack for Terranigma (SNES) around 77 times. This kind of behavior is one of my only remaining strategies for dealing with life's problems and responsibilities.

I have updated the SMX-SDK-enabled ITGmania build to ITGmania 1.1.0. If you are using a SMX pad on Windows, you may find responsiveness slightly improved with this build compared to vanilla ITGmania. (If you are not such a user, this build is not necessary for you.) www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/l8ney...

If a philosophical question or societal issue can't be framed in terms of The Matrix, Idiocracy or Wall-E, it simply isn't important.

According to the map and a statue of its likeness, Birdo seems to be native to a Mediterranean-inspired seaside region in Mario Kart World. This doesn't necessarily conflict with anything that I already knew about Birdo.

Brian Lagerstrom has run out of American food and continues to miss on ethnic recipes. Ethan Chlebowski produces the same bachelor slop over and over again. Adam Ragusea stays being incredibly annoying. The future of dude foodtubers lies in the hands of Evan from W2 KITCHEN.

Based on the current technology trajectory, advances in brain science, and the longevity of the previous version, it seems more likely than ever that, within the next 10 years, our minds will be uploaded into Mario Kart World.

People didn't like the X era DDR announcers because they were too cool. Grammy award-winning artists with actual swag. It makes sense that Konami changed announcers for World because they needed new lines and new vibes. But this Disney Channel-sounding mf is only better tolerated because he's lame.

If you're playing ITG and you hear a sound happen more than once in a row, you better believe there's gonna be a footswitch there. And if a song has a phrase or part and they do it again later on, you already know it'll be a copied version of the earlier part but with different arrows. So fun

I hate the microwave oven. Ate so much microwaved food as a kid that I am intimately familiar with how much food sucks out of the microwave. I don't care how amazing it is that it exists and that we can use this physics glitch to make food shittier. They've existed for like 60 years. Not impressed.

Feels like I'm going to have to factor sausage gravy out of my life. Sausage gravy doesn't seem to be helping with wakefulness, cognitive performance, exercise, DDR scores, or my digestive system. Unfortunately, something about sausage gravy appears to be causing problems for me.

People debate constantly about the causes of new societal issues and changes in mental/behavioral health, often with political propaganda mixed in. It's 100% explainable by video games, the Internet, and smartphones. Except we like that stuff and we need it, so fingers have to be pointed elsewhere.

The only compelling reason for exploring space is to discover new foods. When you hit 40, you've already tried pretty much everything from this planet. New World fruits and vegetables changed the game in the 1500s. We need another one of those.

If you mention diet soda around a group of people, there will always be someone who says "I can't stand artificial sweeteners. That stuff has a weird aftertaste." They think they know something we do not... that they can discern details we can't perceive. But our world is so much bigger than theirs.

Growing up, I was obsessed with the Super Nintendo. I learned how computers operate by building emulators. Preserving games like Secret of Mana felt like the most important thing in the world. The Internet is now flooded with such data, which will never be forgotten. Our own lives will turn to dust.

Playing some ITG lately and couldn't help but notice that every song starts on either the Left or Right arrows. Statistically, that seems highly improbable. Guessing I'm locked into some kind of pocket universe with different stochastic properties

Food words had different meanings in the past. A donut from Krispy Kreme (1937) is decidedly not "crispy" — in fact, the opposite is true. We no longer describe anything but cactuses as "succulent". And in the future, everything will be collapsed into the simpleminded categories "sweet" or "savory".

People love fixating on computers, video games, consumer products, and fictional worlds because, as human creations, they're entirely knowable. You can learn and understand every single thing about Super Mario World. There is zero possibility for terror. In contrast, the real world cannot be grasped
