I was also using the scythe, by the end game and new game plus(which has new cutscenes btw) i was having more fun with the regular sword and switched to the combo ender instead of the scythes that circle you and found it added way more oomph

the simple gameplay benefits a lot from late game abilities so it's understandable why people bounce of the beginning because all of the bits really are at the second half

Almost if not all PS5’s are jail breakable currently and PS5 emulation is so good that it’s not only running Wolverine at playable frame rates and dudes got the actual PS5 OS running on PC. All spearheaded by Sony’s idiotic decision to end the production of Physical Discs.

Pat didn't vibe with Control Resonant's combat so he dropped it from his schedule despite being one of the bigger Remedy guys and a lot of people aren't taking it well

BUT all that to say is that I understand why he feels the way that he feels about it and it's a shame his fanbase has been so volatile at him over it. I hope it doesn't negatively color his perception of it for the rest of time though. Whether he likes the combat or not the story is so freaking good

Late game control resonant areas are doing a lot of things with the environment and they love to throw adds and the like at you while you do gravity shifting or platforming. I don't think a more expansive moveset for the weapons would have been condusive to the game Remedy made.

I do think Pat's sentiments are warranted, He was calling it a character action game and I think that put his expectations were they shouldn't have been especially for a remedy game. The combat is simple but it's one of those things that becomes easier to understand the later you're in the game

Looking at Pat's BlueSky and in a strange turn of events, it looks like the Remedy community is a lot more loving and chill on Twitter of all places than the community is on BlueSky. Almost every post I've made on Resonant on there has blown up to a degree and it's all been chill vibes!

Remedy's pipelines is incredible and they're really putting the rest of the industry to shame. Alan Wake 2 came out only 3 years ago and the last DLC expansion came out only 2 years ago. It's very likely we see Alan Wake 3 in 2028 or 2029.

This and Alan Wake 2 are the only games in the last few years I’ve gone out of my way to get every achievement for. I think Remedy is up there as one of my favorite studios of all time

During the slowest parts of the game I felt like I was landing on a 8/10 by the last few areas I was at a 9/10 and during one of the most insane final sequences I’ve ever played EVEN for a remedy game I was like this is an 11/10. I’ll split the difference and land it on an 8.8/10… maybe 9 idk

I think if the game was a more linear adventure then they could have put a bigger focus on combo routes or lengthining combos but combined with EVERYTHING else it would’ve been too much. I’m two achievements away from 100% completion and this is absolutely my game of the year. A certified classic.

I think the complaints about each weapon only having a 3 hit combo are warranted but by the end of the game you have at least two weapons always equipped and at max 6 different abilities you can toggle through. I understand why they didn’t make the weapons have longer combos. It would’ve been a lot.

It’s unbelievable how backloaded this game is because the best two zones are the last two. From a gameplay perspective they take everything you can do and are given and pair it with the most fun level designs and enemy encounters in the game.

This game has some of the strongest writing in any Remedy game and it’s a wonder Sam didn’t work on it but at the same time you can feel it. The fact that Sam Lake less Remedy games can have this strong of a narrative shows how capable that team is.

Of both of their characters pasts, traumas, and frankly child abuse. We find out A LOT about what happened to them that we don’t from Jesse and it’s such a bummer. This is explored through lavishly created gameplay sequences and your heart hurts not for just Dylan but for both of them.

Dylan being the main character was absolutely the right choice, we spend a significant amount of time in the game exploring all of the trauma he went through, before and after what happened in his hometown, and being able to combine that with Jesse’s story in Control makes for an amazing exploration
