Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 14/08/2025our general philosophy was to modernize with the least amount of changes possible in the path to becoming a paid release i love it when people see the small details we did add :) 050
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 29/07/2025I was there opening day! This was the one area they let you take pictures in lol The MOTHER 2 guardians and late game figures were surprisingly large. Also, the sheer number of different materials used (clear resin, tiny jewelry, etc.) just to make pixel art was incredible. 2161
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 28/07/2025Japan is really fun but coming back to a cramped hotel room is definitely a vibe. If you’re with someone else, you really need to be comfortable with each other. 280
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025With hut stop, it was 20 hours long. This was the highlight of my trip and will be forever remembered. 🗻 150
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025After going around the summit for a couple of hours, it was time to go back down. The journey down goes through a different path, and due to construction/maintenance it was on some very slippery gravel. 110
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025There are, surprisingly, a few buildings at the top including a post office where you can get a special stamped postcard and certificate and a shrine where you can get your goshuin stamp: a certificate that you visited the shrine. (Top right one black text: 2025-7-23, Mt. Fuji Summit) 110
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025Four hours after I left my hut, I got to the top right at sunrise. The experience was amazing, and something that simply can’t be replicated in photos. 120
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025At midnight I got up and started the 12 hour journey for real. At my hut is where the trail turned from a gravel path to just straight up climbing rocks so it’s not like you can walk/run it. However, it is super doable since nothing was bigger than knee-height at worse. 100
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025A couple of hours in I had reached my mountain hut. Doing Fuji in one day requires a car and expense to drive there, and bus/train won’t work because of the limited schedule. There I had been given small cooked meal, a bag lunch, and a place to sleep for a few hours. 100
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025It rained for the first hour but I had a nice raincoat from a Japan military surplus store that kept me dry. The first couple of hours was a bit of an upward journey moving from paved path to switchbacks on gravel. 100
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025I left Kyoto at 5am for a 7 hour journey just to even get there. A shinkansen ride to Tokyo, dropping my bags off, a packed train to the town just outside the national park, and a bus to the 5th station base camp, the start point. There I got a cute little Fuji melon bread as a little extra fuel. 100
Ryan Alyea @rofish.bsky.social · 24/07/2025I always joked with my friends and coworkers every time I went to Japan that I wanted to take the trek up. On my Japan trip this time, all the stars aligned: My altitude training for Show Low triathlon, trip occurring during climbing season, spare time to go up, planning, and perfect weather. 120
