Despite the case being settled (not being found not-guilty BTW) in this story (www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...) it will be an interesting dynamic between the story’s reporting journalist (Joanne Chianello) and Tim during Council meetings… assuming Ms. Chianello wins that ward.

A government owned airport with a government owned corporate entity that runs the airport operations (changi airport group) with that group also having the mandate for foreign airport operations. Question: will #canada go in this direction? Or will it permit foreign group (like changi) to run ours?

Maybe build / adapt regulations to spur demand such as to build regulations for balcony-solar installations and grid-connects such as the widely popular and successful balcony-solar installs across Germany.

Reading a lot of social posts for mayoral candidate with ‘I’ ‘I’ ‘I’ and no ‘We’ as a Council lead by Mayor. Optics is to make it look like they alone will do the work in #ottawa City Hall rather than demo’ing leadership toward others doing stuff. Hmmm…wonder Strong Mayor powers are to be used?! 🤔

Ever noticed how dysfunctional #Hwy417 eastbound is from Pinecrest to Merivale is with the lanes alignment? Also, with the recent reopening of lane after Carling the flow opens up. But that barrier replacement does not look completed. Wonder if work is paused until municipal elections for #ottawa 🤔

I am not condoning the speeding (as I would be a hypocrite!), nor the aggressive lane changes, nor the lack of turn signals, nor the hard accelerations, nor the tailgating . But damn: total riDICKulous move to splash someone on sidewalk (such as on Richmond Rd) when you could have drift away! 🖕

Whilst here in #ontario we have in-the-weeds Doug tearing up anything that supports active transportation And in #ottawa, we see candidate signs that plead to ‘end the war on drivers’ And where #autowa drivers can’t help themselves to spray pedestrians during/ after rainfall!

One barrier that the industry has recognized is the required interruption of work terms to do classroom work What BS that is! The single greatest barrier is the nepotism in the requirement for people to find someone to take them on as an Apprentice…on their own! They keep spots for their own!

My issue is that all levels of government create these types of programs that could benefit any homeowner yet will not benefit all that are eligible as not everyone is replacing (in this instance) their furnace/ heating systems during the applicable period. Make it a program for all of #canada

There is 1 number that I see missing from this assessment: revenues to the developers! How much are they forecasting to make as profit from this expansion? Maybe that number will help to assess if they are building enough of the supporting infrastructure rather than pointing to others to pay for i.

Do you know what else is observed as being on the rise? Increase in observed rate of vehicles that perform hard-acceleration inside the urban areas, lack of use of turn signals, increased running of red lights and stop signs, left-turns at intersections that forbid it downtown…or combo of any/all!!

Festival space: yes!!! This City is devoid of a formal festival place/ area/ zone ... and City Hall is not that space. not sure that Byward is that space either but it is worth a shot...if done right (not sure what that looks like), and that might require to pedestrianize the district. Now sell it!

Storefront topic: Leiper is right in wanting to occupy those vacant spaces. Keep the spirit moving in the Market while finding permanent tenants. Offers space to those that crave it / need it. How many commercial spaces are vacant in the City and people complain about it? this is rather cool!

everyone (really!) hates (subjective) the rampant problems in the Market. On paper, the night ambassadors program is part of strategy to support people and (bluntly!) to clean-up the Market! Less offensive than the new police sub-station IMO!
