Thursday #portraitchallenge 'Self-Portrait with Brush' painted by Zinaida Serenriakova in 1924 My version in acrylic paint on 6x8 inch canvas pad. First week in a looong time I've included the background, couldn't resist.
Painting of woman seated on a chair paint brush in hand. Behind her on a shelf are jars of colour.

Digital #portrait painting of my friend Errol, from a photo. Hard to tell but he's giving us the thumbs up! Quite pleased with this one, good practice again. Really tiny changes to his mouth to try to capture his very subtle smile! We were in a night club, hence purple hues... #kleineKunstklasse

For last week's #portraitchallenge, I didn’t want to draw a passive Māori woman sitting politely for a Victorian photographer. Instead, I've depicted a fierce Māori female politician leading a protest haka in the NZ Parliament in 2025, while The Speaker watches on, unimpressed. Non conformance!
A painting illustrating a Māori female MP with a moko kauae (traditional chin tattoo) performing a protest haka inside the New Zealand Parliament. she faces the Speaker of the House, who looks on with disapproval.

Timelapse video of my self portrait above... Hands up I did resize a couple of the construction lines and the glasses! Really pleased with how it turned out! The space on the left is where my reference photo sits, while I'm painting.

Thank you so much for organising this @sagebock.eurosky.social , it was really great! Loved seeing everyone else's work, and the challenge of making some interesting pieces myself. It's really helping my practice! Cheers, Rob

If it were me I'd bring the Jamie layer to the foreground and move the layer over... But that's because I'm too scared to use real paint! 🤣🤣

Amazing Liz, individually and as a group! Jamie looks like he's isolated in his body language, maybe a deliberate gap all around would emphasise that? Tricky problem! Look forward to seeing how it comes together!

My version of this weeks Thursday #portraitchallenge in oil paint on gessoed paper. Woman in Kimono, by Ryōhei Koiso painted in 1936. I'm liking my group of four ladies. How to fill in around young Jamie on the right I've no idea.

Making this I realised my digital brush had too much mix-in, so everything was getting mushy. Also, I've accidentally made a picture of Gillian Anderson playing Margaret Thatcher!

#portraitchallenge loved the @lizmtwt.bsky.social work so much that I started making a version of that instead! 😁 Really loved this challenge! Never thought to paint a bronze! I'm often stuck painting what's in my head, and not what I see... maybe this helped to free my mind!? #kleinekunstklasse

My #portraitchallenge copy of the portrait of John Count McCormack, by William Orpen in 1923. As ever, great to practice my #digitalpainting. Body too long and small head, but quite pleased with some of the brush strokes. At times it looked terrible, I realised I could work over it to recover!

Anne Desmet Bouwen zonder barrières | Museum Escher in Het Paleis

A cityscape looms over semi abstract commuters heading towards it. The sky and hillside is reflected in the wall of glass ahead.

This week's #portraitchallenge! Tried to be a bit looser with my brush strokes like @lizmtwt.bsky.social (not very successfully! Face overworked!). Quite pleased though... Even though she really doesn't look ANYTHING like the original! 😂 (cc @barbarapabu.eurosky.social) #kleinekunstklasse

headdress and elaborate clothing, set against a
landscape featuring mountains and a lake. She
has a serious expression with her hands clasped, which should be adorned with rings, but are not. The colors are rich and
vibrant with highlights.
