Absolutely love what Maguire's doing here, staying true to his own Galinda and Oz canon while weaving in references to and elements of the Wicked stage show and film and their separate but similar versions of her in order to create this younger her. He's clearly a fan of the musical.

Very few things in life bring me as much joy as Wicked. And I mean the film, the stage show, the entire book series (the main quartet of novels, the sequel trilogy, the prequels...). I know, shocker. But honestly, if I had to just watch Wicked and Muppets and nothing else, I could live with that.

Just saw VAMPS (2012), which is absolutely wild. Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter as basically Romy and Michelle if they were vampires, and written/directed by Amy Heckerling, creator of CLUELESS. With a cast that is jawdroppingly stacked beyond belief. Hilarious and so weird (complimentary).

Watched DETENTION (2011), and it may genuinely be the most batshit film I've ever seen. Absolutely baffling to me that it isn't a major cult classic. If you haven't seen it, it's kind of a gory slasher while also being a send-up of every 80s/90s teen film ever and also a bit scifi? Kind of in awe.

COYOTE VS ACME was beyond sensational. An absolute delight and then the last 30 min took me the fuck out with an anvil of Bathos. I'm so so so glad that movie got saved. Unassailable joy. And the ANIMATION WORK was bonkers, insane FX work (Amazing detials in reflections). Shot designed BEAUTIFULLY!

Watched STRIKE UP THE BAND (1940) for the first time and you can really see in it why Lucille Ball said Judy Garland was funnier than her, because there's a lot of Lucy's style of comedy in her performance. In an alternate universe, Judy could've been the one starring in a beloved 50s sitcom.
