A mind-bending meditation on death, decay and what we make of the precious little time we have, i’m a little fruit fly is a bold, genre-defying debut that reveals something different with every reading. #seekingapublisher #booksfrompoland #xl8 #translatedlit #prosepoetry #independentpublisher

Black lettering on white background:

THE CASE OF THE FLYING GIRL

lazy is the drooping lid
solitary is the drooping lid
too short the lace curtain over one window
once more i saw someone (un)desired
once more into the flat blew a cautionary
air
once more i fell in love

One of the most interesting #translation projects I've done of late, a #Luxembourgish investigative journalism podcast into the biggest financial #fraud to ever hit the country's social sector Check it out here: 100komma7.lu/show/The-Car... #xl8 #podcast #caritas #luxembourg #charity

#PENTranslates is now open to UK publishers looking to publish great fiction, non-fiction, poetry and more in #translation! Knud Petersen's queer, working-class memoir Once When I Was A Girl: Memories of a Him-Girl would be a great candidate, especially in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling.

What really hit me with this book – and why I chose to pitch a chapter from near the end of the book, rather than the beginning – was this section. This book was written in the late 1940s but this passage feels just as relevant today, specifically in relation to the "Everything is H*mas" brigade...

shout, shout, and shout again. Accuse the Second Corps of anything and everything that comes to mind—savage intentions, fascism, brigandry and speculation, immorality and irreligiousness, misappropriating the wealth of the Fatherland

NEW SAMPLE ALERT! bit.ly/4iZ59V7 I am SO excited about this one. Once, When I Was A Girl is a queer, working-class memoir that reads like a novel. Knud proves to be a remarkable translator who initiates the reader into the world of 'him-girls' in early 20th-century Copenhagen.

This, and I cannot stress this enough, is EXTREMELY funny to me – talk about getting a taste of one's own medicine 😆 #AI

Hush Now by Agnieszka Jelonek (Poland, Cyranka 2022) An unflinching, unpretentious reflection on love, both romantic and platonic, and an exploration of how to find one’s own voice in life and build a reality that is not centred around the wants and needs of others. #seekingapublisher #xl8

Out here, I dream. In the city, my sleep was empty, dark-grey, big. In the early hours, when the stuff stopped working, it became light-grey and heavy. But now, I am here.
