Disability Minister who is not disabled, no policy track record in this area and has never worked with disabled people. Would ppl accpt this in any other equality strand?? Ugh.

Was this proposed by a right-wing thinktank too, because it has ALL of the hallmarks. When the chips are down, stick the boot into disabled people - that's the vibe I'm getting from Timms and co.

Lewis, According to the Guardian, Independent and Mirror today, Labour are about to repeat their mistakes on #pip despite the #timmsreview There is no moral basis to cut PIP for under 24s unless the mental health, employment support and humane processes to assess non/work populations are in place.

I would say this is an unethical attempt to influence the Review by a well connected Tory activist with long history of hostility towards disability benefits. Why Timms put him on the review is another good question.

There was never any transparency about how the Timms #PIP review steering group was put together (except it certainly wasn't co-production) and how/why Jean-André Prager of the Policy Exchange ended up on it. People guessed he was there to drive cuts, no matter what. They must have guessed right.

“Key disability benefit for young people may be axed under major welfare changes.” 1. PIP is unrelated to work & helps many stay working. 2. If they want more disabled people in work, why are they cutting Access To Work? 3. Where are the suitable jobs? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Is this genuinly what Timms Review Group stated was needed?? Or have they been duped into coalescing with a likely form of neo-liberal workfare? Does it signal the end of PIP as we know it?

Timms example of a disabled person struggling to get a 'rise/fall' bed is an example of his muddle on basic facts. If clinical need is established, the NHS has a duty to provide this. Why the 'feck' is he using this as an example of flexible PIP use? Real ignorance. Scary. #TimmsReview #PIP

Feels as though Milburn has prevailed over Timms here. McFadden bound to side with Milburn judging by his Labour Conference Address. No sense of how the DWP will decide who is/isnt work-able. I fear for young people with severe/enduring health or impairment challenges.

#TimmsReview #PIP The entire Timms PIP review is a shambolic sham. There has never been or intended to be real co production with disabled people at all. These workshops mute ideas (worded as a way to get support for cuts

Wow. Well done John for exposing the 'bottom line' of Labour on PIP reform. Milburn does not understand the issues around PIP. He's paid to do a hatchet job on youth unemployment. That's what he's doing here-anyone that gets in his way gets abused.

The only parts I can agree with is the end of repeated reviews for those with lifelong conditions, and better handling of us with fluctuating conditions. The rest, is about cuts and finding ways to stop support. The review is a budgetary one. www.campaignfordisabilityjustice.org.uk/pip_proposal...

"The draft recommendations leave open the possibility of completely replacing some cash payments with services or other non-cash support..." "Oh you have this thing in place locally, you don't need any money then" could so easily happen here. Massive slippery slope into dependence, not independence.
