Our protests have forced the Cardiff Timms Review workshop -- a top-down review controlled by private consultants -- to move online. The DWP should ask themselves the obvious question: why do disabled people feel the need to protest a review that is supposedly ‘co-produced’ with them? #TimmsReview

Petition: Immediately unfreeze gender-affirming surgeries and protect NHS Welsh Gender Service patients.
We call on the Senedd and Welsh Government to direct the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) to: Immediately unfreeze scheduled and approved gender-affirming surgeries for patients who have already completed assessments. Ensure that any ongoing clinical review is conducted concurrently without disrupting active, established patient care. Publish clear, transparent Terms of Reference and a strict timeline for the independent review of the Welsh Gender Service.

TUC must not abandon disability cuts fight - trade unionists must urgently push for a recommitment to action
TUC must not abandon disability cuts fight

Ben Golightly, Swansea Socialist Party

In 2025, the TUC (Trades Union Congress) unanimously passed motions 38 and 39 opposing the UK government’s disability cuts and calling for coordinated and sustained trade union action.

Since then, however, the TUC has taken the position that it does not need to implement these actions due to the concession that Personal Independence Payment (PIP) cuts will be delayed until the conclusion of the Timms Review in the coming Autumn.

This is a mistaken position.

The concessions on PIP are only temporary, and continuing cuts to Motability, Access to Work, and Universal Credit Health Element remain an emergency issue for trade union members and the working class as a whole.

The continuation of decades of austerity and cuts to council budgets, and the knock-on effect on social services, transport and education, disproportionately impact disabled service users, despite existing policy from TUC Cymru and trade unions calling on councils to set no-cuts budgets.

The government is now particularly targeting young disabled people through the Milburn Review, Wes Streeting’s review into supposed ‘over-diagnosis’ of disability, a rollout of 55,000 compulsory work placements under threat of sanction, and threats to abolish Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Trade unionists must urgently push for a recommitment to action.

Oppose Labour's "Overdiagnosis" Myths! The existence of neurodivergence should never be up for debate. #DPAC #DisabilityRights
A protest graphic. At the top there is big, bold black text that says "Disability is Real" on a pale background, the "Real" is in red for emphasis. The background colour then changes to dark grey, and there is smaller white bold text that says "Oppose Labour's Overdiagnosis Myths". "Overdiagnosis" is written in quotes. To the right of this text is a picture of a megaphone and the DPAC Cymru logo.
