There is nothing in software development right now that has a wider gulf in my mind between conceptual understanding and actual understanding than vector databases. I get the gist of what you’re saying, but I have no Earthly idea how that actually works.

Y’all need to catch this @joelhooks.com talk from #CommitYourCode conference on YouTube later. It had such great wisdom about event based architectures, and features a jaw dropping demo of inngest and their insane Dev Server. Amazing DX. How did I not know about this already????

In 1996, it took me all day to download the Diablo beta (50mb) on my 28.8kbps modem. I prayed no one would call the house while we were away and ruin the download. Just now, I started pre-installing Diablo 4. 85gb! Inflation is hell.

Nothing like the panic of getting your kid ready for school and realizing his "Student of the Week" poster is due. "Take time and get creative" Crap. Some frantic coloring and cutting up family photos later, we arrived at school exactly at first bell, poster in hand. Hey, as long as he's happy.

Tried archery for the first time during a team exercise at our management offsite! It was remarkably fun and relaxing! Not intimidating at all; would definitely recommend.

Working on a way to rein in bikeshedding and edge case obsession - Plane Ticket size. We don’t fix issues that are so rare and low impact that it’s cheaper to fly devs to fix things for affected user(s). Software is expensive, y’all. You’d be surprised how much gets culled by Plane Ticket sizing!
