Also, I learned that 30 September was clearly too early to stop taking my hayfever meds.

Tonight, I learned that there were far more Victoria Beckham solo singles than I had remembered.

Ah, of course, and they’re all yours! Will ping over in a bit.

Ah! I was not aware of that. So that’s a yes? ;) Looks great, hope it goes swimmingly

Yes, saw that! Possibly a smidge too far on this occasion. You going? Looks like a good day!

Emerging as a clear favourite thus far - and not one of the couple I’d already heard #nowplaying

I even went to Resident Evil, somewhat against my better judgment, and have a ticket for some prime nonsense this weekend, in an attempt to use some up, but I absolutely refuse to see Digger.

FREE THING: I have once again ended up with two Vue cinema free ticket codes, that need to be used by the end of the day today - you can book ahead for anything that’s currently on sale, however. Apply within for details.

(Yes, I had to look ‘runway’ up; no YOU are ‘meant to be in an all-day meeting at this point’.)

Recommend hoovering before seeing this one, if the state of my room by the end is anything to go by.

I really hope the publication of biographies of Anita Brookner and Barbara Cartland at more of less the same time creates a literary Barbenheimer effect.

‘Whatever regrets she had, Anita Brookner preferred the world her way, which is the reason that the terrifying self-encirclement of her best characters is so completely authentic.’ Andrew O’Hagan on the novelist. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Tenpin Records in Purley. Great shop, lovely people.

I know. I haven’t quite adjusted to it being here yet. Might have to get the nice dinner service out.

Ah, the ol’ baked bean cans-and-string style

Took some records I no longer wanted to the shop; came back with one I never, ever, dreamt of owning.

Scott Engel - Scott 4 LP

(peeking out from behind it: Violent Femmes - Hallowed Ground LP)

Guy having a loud speakerphone conversation on the bus just reminded his interlocutor ‘you’re in public, by the way’. If only there were a solution to that.

I’m absolutely not the person to ask, but I’m sure that Alien Lanes and Bee Thousand would be somewhere fairly high on the aficionados lists?

I avoided it for years, ostensibly because I’m ‘not massively into war films’. Was wrong on both counts; rewatched it a week later.

011

Saw them a few times ‘back then’, am definitely pro but have never heavily invested (and what an investment)

Sure I’ve got more blind spots like this; what are yours?

Am being reminded that there is no reason on earth why I should not be into pop music band The Clientele, other than that I just haven’t taken the time to become so immersed, and that this should change.

Sympathies to all my fellow Gen Xers who’ve also just gone “There’s a new movie of Sense & Sensibility? But they JUST DID one. They literally ONLY JUST made that into a movie, with Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant, it only came out (checks IMDB)… thirty… one… years… ago… … … oh.”

I’m trying to come up with something really general, but while I’m thinking: the M&S Egg & Cornish Cruncher (and pickled onion) is the food of the gods, one of the great supermarket sandwiches.

Memorials were absolutely fantastic at Clwb Ifor Bach tonight; a real ‘like them a lot on record, but love them live’ and they were better then ever. Apply within, fans of heads-down multitasking motorik psych duos.
