Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 7hClementine gimlet- very nice, if a little too easy to drink! Would be a good Christmas cocktail! 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 09/10/2026He was my favourite player in the early 90s - I only got to see him bat once live - bowled by Syd Lawrence in the first over -it was a sweet moment however as the test squad had just been announced with no Syd 100
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Kp taking the Australian attack apart at Bristol in 2005 was pretty special - but Ian Botham (well past his prime) winning a Benson and hedges game for Worcestershire at Bristol single handed was incredible to a 13 year me - 138 not out, hooked a six to win the game in the last over 001
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Ah, delighted you enjoyed it! I was really impressed 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Hmm, not a huge fan of peaty whisky tbh, and don't think I've actually tried any mezcal - but guess I should aim for those with minimal smokiness! 000
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Actually, while generally a fan of gin, and gin and tonic, there is a special place in hell reserved for the smoked gin and tonic I tried in Berlin 10 years ago. Like drinking a packet of cigarettes. Smoked food = generally good, smoked drink = always bad. (Smoked beer also awful) 220
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/10/2026After lunch, controversial... I've always found gin more appealing as an aperitif! My unfortunate experience was with a 3 litre bottle of old English cider aged 17- i still can't manage more than a half pint or so of cider 32 years later! 130
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Hope you manage to sample some of the dark beers! Charles bridge at sunrise is pretty cool, albeit not fully compatible with the excellent beer! 111
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Le tunnel, recipe courtesy of Richard Godwin. Enjoyed this, but didn't ease into it quite like a Negroni or Boulevardier. 020
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Very excited to get to help host a work function earlier this week where I actually got to put some of my a-level history studies to use - pictured with William IV the sailor King, and father of 10 illegitimate children. (Also monarch during great reform act of 1832). 030

Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Wow! Embarrassingly I misplaced london which diminished my score (not like I've lived here for 25 years)- did not quite hit your scores on the others however! Chapeau! 000
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Most gracious! It was a clever question for luring in the unwary - I was cross with my hasty response. But it led me down a rabbit hole that ended with watching footage of heath streak dismissing Javed Miandad (not lbw of course!) twice in the same match - so a positive outcome! 120
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I think in the circumstances it was fair criticism! Should have read all 3 of the criteria before replying... 110
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 24/09/2026A glos win to continue their mini resurgence after a difficult year or two, and along the way consign Lancashire to bottom of the table perhaps! 021
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 21/09/2026That pinging is a lovely sound (especially when you then manage to spot them)- fond memories of a suffolk holiday where I heard them on a couple of occasions before finally laying eyes on them 010

Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Always nice to start a Saturday by run directing at @catfordparkrun.bsky.social - this mornings run directing duties branched out in an unexpected direction- I can now add removing a disembowelled rat from the course to my cv (happily spotted by the set up crew before any runners trod on it!) 170
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Double dose of culture in London. La femme infidele as part of the Chabrol season at the nft, followed by the Whistler exhibition at Tate Britain. Both excellent! Had not seen the chabrol before, and great to see on the big screen. Some of the whistler - especially the nocturnes- were magnificent 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Northampton half done- nice event apart from unexpected flight of stairs and a nasty uphill for the final mile! Legs didn't quite have enough summer training to push for a sub 90- only just outside in the end but pretty sure the course measured a bit short 040
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 11/09/2026No insightful knowledge beyond knowing that I love a good palo cortado, but don't see them very often. The ones I've had have been somewhere between amontillardo and oloroso, typically pretty dry, and with an incredible long interesting finish. Enjoy! 001
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Crisps definitely a solid option for salt replacement! 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 10/09/2026This is my go to option for electrolyte replacement, but guess you may not have any to hand! Failing that bananas and pickle juice are supposed to be quite effective (tasty combination!) 110
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Having just returned from a couple of days in Prague this was a joy to read - thank you! So many fine beers to try! 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I do love a good ferry trip! Able to board when we arrived - 3 hours or so before departure, and installed with a cold pint of Heineken (ok, so the beer options could be better, but hey) watching the sunset! Returning to Harwich after a 9 day adventure (Zagreb, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam) 020
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Another day, another excellent Prague brew. This amber ale was delicious - and followed a very refreshing Berlin style Weisse, and a Budvar summer ale, which was also pretty good. 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/09/2026It was amusing to discover- while visiting several second hand shops for daughter to peruse the clothes- that even in Prague approximately 50% of the cheap records ars by James Last. (Fewer Cliff Richard however). 030
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Charles Bridge at sunrise. Well worth the 5.40 alarm call! 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Ah Prague, even more magnificent than I remembered. And the beer is still cheap, albeit I probably won't drink quite as much of it this time as I did in 1999! 130
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I'm very much enjoying revisiting it 27 years on. The strahov monastery restaurant is a hard recommend - up beyond the castle - superb dark and amber beer, and very reasonable and fine food- our goulash and schnitzel went down a treat! 110
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I had forgotten just how good czech dark beer was. Glorious. 1190

Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 02/09/2026auf wiedersehen Wien! A fantastic couple of days exploring the Austrian capital for the first time. Superb art- Klimt and Brueghels particular highlights. Next stop Prague! 100
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I interrailed through hungary 27 years ago- spent a really nice couple of days in Eger - some the wines there were superb - lovely levels of acidity in the reds! 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 29/08/2026After a brief 28 hours in zagreb - in which I failed to see a collared flycatcher or middle spotted woodpecker, I'm now on the world's slowest train to Budapest. Here is the view of lake balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Europe. 140
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Pleased to add a couple of continental offerings from Zagreb. 020
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Well done - always good to have some first aid knowledge to fall back on. I'm a first aider at work and have been grateful to have those skills several times outside work. Does shake you up however! 110
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Totally shot (not a surprise- all the others from this producer have been long dead). However, the morellino was a joy. Spicy, rich, overripe forest fruits (not sure if that is due to the age)- beautifully smooth. Perfect with a nice steak, and a lovely surprise as I feared this too would be dead 010
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 22/08/2026A tale of 4 dusty old bottles- further bottles from my late uncle's cellar. Both whites were dark orange - the Monterey had evolved into something strangely between an old sherry with a bit of pudding wine on the nose. It wasn't exactly nice, but less sulphurous than the other. The Beaune was... 100
Rob Harvey @robharvey99.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Happy Friday cocktail! Paloma- a grapefruit/long take on a margarita - rather nice! Recipe courtesy of diffords in alt text 000
