Know any 11-yr olds? Picture them. Trump is absolutely fine with a country that targets them. He wants to make deals with that country. He wants that country's help in an election again. His only problem with Russia killing kids would be if it made people vote against him. Vote against him
A tweet from Pepel Klaasa reads, over a picture of Ukrainian rescuers tending to the body of an 11-yr old targeted and killed by Russian drone operators,

"In Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian drone dropped an explosive device on an 11-year-old boy, killing him. Two other children were injured.

The drone operator could clearly see that they were children. This was the deliberate killing of children."

Good news, everyone! Stephen is back from the ER
BACK FROM ER

We got home last night. I was battling a virus that dehydrated me, causing difficult symptoms. My docs told me to go to ER to make sure I wasn’t in kidney rejection.

There was some inflammation around my kidney but the kidney itself is fine and functioning well.

I appreciate this direct rebuke, by Trump-appointee Judge Brown, of both an illegal ICE arrest *and* ICE's illegal attempts to excuse it. This is practically ICE's standard operating procedure: the behavior of an unaccountable, lawless federal army. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Agents allegedly arrested petitioner based on a physical description and
photograph of one target. Yet the description disproves the match: the target was five
inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter than the petitioner. As to the photograph, the team
leader acknowledged upon cross-examination that “it’s very easy to see they’re two
different people.” Trying to legitimize petitioner’s arrest, ICE issued a post-hoc sworn
administrative warrant containing false information and later issued a Notice to
Appear. At the hearing, the officers proffered inconsistent, false and misleading
testimony.
The result is troubling: compelling evidence here belies the ICE agents’ reflexive
invocation of misidentification as an excuse for erroneous arrests. Particularly
problematic in this case, the evidence suggests that ICE attempted to support their
unsupported misidentification argument through false or misleading documentation
and testimony. The claims of misidentification here prove baseless, the arrests were
procedurally deficient and legally invalid, and ICE agents falsified official records
trying to conceal their illegal actions, which included significant injury to a U.S. citizen.
The arrest and detention of petitioner were illegal. The petition must be granted.
Furthermore, given the false testimony and records supplied to the Court and the other
matters revealed, further action must be considered.

Apparently, Bailey had (some) red lines www.cbsnews.com/news/top-fbi...
The sources added that Patel consistently kept Bailey at arm's length and cut him out of meetings the deputy FBI director should attend because Bailey was constantly flagging things that were unconstitutional.

This is a good result, but one we need many more of. Unconstitutional schemes like this to violate the 4th Amendment become pilot programs for authoritarians elsewhere in the country. ij.org/press-releas...
The unconstitutional program ran in five steps: First, surveillance cameras across the state and country recorded license plates and logged when and where cars went. Second, analysts and anonymous tipsters flagged ordinary travel, like driving toward the border and back, as suspicious. Third, Bexar County sheriff’s deputies invented a traffic violation to justify pulling over the flagged driver. Fourth, deputies pulled drivers into their front seats, interrogated them and asked consent to search their car. Finally, fifth, if the driver refused to consent to a search, a K-9 alert from a manipulated dog supplied the probable cause to search anyway. This practice happened for four years to countless motorists.

From this NPR interview with Lara Korte. You have to hear Korte's answer to get the full effect, at 3 min 20 sec into the interview www.npr.org/2026/08/22/n...
KURTZLEBEN: Do you still think that Stars and Stripes is editorially independent?

KORTE: That's a good question, right (laughter)? It's the kind of thing that needs to be proven. It's been stated many times, and I'm glad to see that it's been stated. But I think that answer will come out in the coming, you know, weeks and months. I think it is vital to the mission of the paper and the mission of the military that we remain editorially independent and able to report on the facts of what is happening to our military community.

AFTER FALLING FOR A WEEK, NATIONAL AVERAGE CLIMBING AGAIN
August 13,2026
WASHINGTON, DC (August 13, 2026) – The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is back on the rise after a week of falling prices. Today’s national average is back up to $4.07 after dropping to $4.00 on Monday. Crude oil prices are once again in the $80 per barrel range amid continued uncertainty along the Strait of Hormuz. While gasoline demand is down, crude oil prices are keeping pump prices higher than normal for this time of year. So far, this is the highest August on record when it comes to the national gasoline average.

Today’s National Average: $4.0715

One Week Ago: $4.0633

One Month Ago: $3.8722

One Year Ago: $3.1558

"The White House is considering granting mass pardons for the nation’s birthday. The prospect set off an international frenzy of lobbying and dealmaking in which even slight proximity to the president can be monetized." Sarah Fitzpatrick & Michael Scherer. Gift: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
Five current and former administration officials and nine private-sector lawyers, lobbyists, and other individuals with ties to Trump’s orbit told us that the jockeying among those seeking clemency for past crimes has been intense. One criminal-defense attorney called it “a three-ring circus,” and a former administration official said that it was “batshit crazy.” One lobbyist told us that he had started turning off his cellphone as the ”“aggressive” requests from clients intensified in recent weeks. All spoke with us on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters with high stakes in the days ahead.

One former Trump associate who had been approached to help facilitate a pardon described the push to be included in the possible 250 for the celebration of American independence as distinctly different from what had occurred in Trump’s first term. “Everything is now out in the open,” he told me, drawing a contrast to previous attempts to keep plans under wraps and disguise the appearance of selling access. For those hoping to obtain a presidential pardon or other form of clemency, this person said, “now is the time.”

Jonathan Swan on C-SPAN:
We also have reporting in the book that Donald Trump has told senior advisers in the Oval Office that he's going to pardon anyone who came within 250 feet of the Oval Office. He sometimes says 200 feet. He sometimes says 29 feet. Some number of feet. So there's a sense among Trump and his allies and his inner circle that with a very friendly Justice Department run by Trump's own former personal lawyer, with sweeping immunity from the Supreme Court, with an intention to use the pardon power more expansively potentially than any president has ever used it, I don't think that they feel any real concern about illegality.
