My wife's connection to birds is so strong. She captured this photo of one of the pair of egrets that landed behind the statue of Buddha, which she was at due to serendipity on her way to visit me in the hospital. When she acknowledged the message,they flew towards the hospital.

I’m doing great this morning it's release day eve 😉🥳. I saw the moon, Jupiter, and Mars in a nice line at 3am this morning got a so-so photo from my iPhone and a good poem out of it. Talked to my kids from my heart after seeing it (it was prime time in the States). Celestial bodies stir my soul.

I’m actually having a great time, despite having heart failure on the 3rd day here. Before that we saw Akihabara, Shibyua & a shrine in Tokyo, & evening in Kanazawa. I've been in the hospital since. But it has been good for my soul & art. I'll get out Thursday have 3 days to see things with Lisa.

Yesterday I had an anxiety dream about my childhood home, that affected me more than I thought. Wound up writing a darker poem than I usually plan for, below. But another night of processing I feel great this morning. Banging out some positive poems and art. Again looking forward to Thursday release

Thanks for your concern 🙏💙. Yes I have several. Here's one I wrote 3-4 days after getting out of the ICU. Yesterday I was maudlin because I’d had an unsettling dream about living in my childhood house. It affected me more than I thought, until I went to write that poem, then I felt the effects 😬

The beauty of the morning made me appreciate the beauty of the world. The fact of being in the hospital has allowed me to see life more clearly than ever before. Now I am forced to sit with my thoughts and do nothing which has inspired my art to new degrees.

Since being in the hospital, I'm experimenting with drawing techniques with marker pens, which I haven't used since I was a child, and colored pencils with very limited resources. It has also spurred my poetry to new heights. Ironically, my heart, shutting down has opened my heart to the beauty and love of the universe so this is the third best thing to ever happen to me.
