Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

The scrunch disco ball does a great job in fabulous, friendly Zaragoza - hard sunshine, sharp shadows, history-laden facades. ¡Felíz día de eclipse todos! #boladediscoteca

Portable fold-up scrunch disco ball, ready for eclipse-watching. 10 mm mirror tape, 4 x 15 squares, cut in 1-2 squares from the sides, held with soft iron wire, fixed with duct tape. Unfold, scrunch, put in the sun and shine the blobs on a nice wall. #discoball #eclipse #diskokula #solförmörkelse

There is a full universe behind that wonderful new Artemis II "Night Marble" view of Earth. Here's a breakdown of the stars (and one planet) in the field of view. Look at us! Just a planet hanging out in space. Annotation by Rodrigo González Peinado. 🧪🔭

Excellent piece from @astrokiwi.bsky.social @sundogplanets.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy & Laura Revell. This one sentence is the crux of it all 👇 "There is no public mandate for a single company in one country to make changes on that scale to the planet’s atmosphere." Highly recommended. 🔭🧪

A new space race could turn our atmosphere into a ‘crematorium for satellites’
Planned ‘megaconstellations’ of satellites could cause unforeseen harm to the ozone layer and climate systems. Global regulation is needed before it’s too late.

The new #ASPIRES3 Physics report is difficult reading. Physics: * remains male-dominated (24% fem) & privileged * aspirations decline from the start to end of school 😔 * is considered the least interesting, most difficult science 😭 * is for brainy "geeks" 😮‍💨 Lots of useful recommendations though🎢🧪👩‍🔬⚛️

Science diplomacy is needed more now than at any time in history, given the scale of challenges the world faces. Research is often described as a form of ‘soft power’ diplomacy… The first step towards protecting science diplomacy must be to protect science itself. 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Science diplomacy can help to heal global rifts — if research is respected
The universal language of science allows nations to reach a mutual understanding of shared problems. But that requires politicians not to meddle in how science is done.
