We have a wee one in London at the National Gallery, lucky to have been to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam - I bet there’s a few postmen in there

Yes I don’t know how many Sunflower paintings there are - fourteen maybe? You’re always shocked at how the colours are so different, each reproduction will skew the colours in a different way.

That doesn’t seem logical does it. I’m going to live with the mystery.

Yes her eyes are in different positions too but the version without the chair has less detail. Maybe he went back to it, I’m trying to find out online and losing the will to live.

Are there two different versions of the same painting? The signatures are different. Gah! the internet.

There is a version with a chair, I wonder if it was painted out or added. It makes a more satisfying composition which is maybe why I like it less.

In the early part of the 20thC, the Swiss artist Hans Emmenegger began making recurrent themes of enigmatic, dark forest interiors, exploring the optical effects of light and colour. This work was painted in 1933.

Pleading for the Child collections.artsmia.org/art/127703
black and white etching of a seated woman wearing a long dress and holding a piece of cloth in her PL hand, a single tear coming from her PR eye; small, hairy man on the right with arms outstretched toward seated woman; small shallow ledge in background with three pieces of fruit on center of the ledge
A landmark of 20th-century book illustration, David Hockney’s unconventional interpretation of fairy tales selected from the hundreds compiled by the Brothers Grimm (Jakob Ludwig Carl Grimm and Wilhelm Carl Grimm) during the 19th century, considers the supernatural and psychological content of these bizarre stories in visual terms. With a virtuoso handling of linear and tonal intaglio printmaking, Hockney explores the characters’ motivations, values, and temperaments, presenting his own reading of the tales while seeking a greater understanding of human mentality. The illustrations also reference art of the past, a common feature of Hockney’s work, with visual allusions to Uccello, Carpaccio, Leonardo, Brueghel, and René Magritte. As a result, there is a timeless quality to the images that complements the stories’ centuries-old legacy of folklore.

The menhir of La Tiemblais in St-Samson-sur-Rance (Côtes-d’Armor) lies at angle of 45 degrees due to excavations by C19 treasure seekers; if upright it would be 7m tall. One of several traditions is that it blocked 1 of 3 entrances to Hell. Card by Rouxel in Dinan c.1905.

Maybe it’s about a breakdown and retreating from the world, along the lines of something like Repulsion? Anyway it was directed by a 20 year old, I couldn’t tie my shoe laces at that age.

Backrooms has some really groovy things in it but it doesn’t seem to be about anything. Maybe films don’t need to be about anything. Maybe it’s about something but I couldn’t tell what it was. Yellow.

Because you didn’t ask when I was a kid I saw an old black and white short film late at night where a fella hunts a snake all around his room then gets into bed, it’s in the bed and bites him. It absolutely terrified me and haunts me still. It was probably a comedy.
