Off for a long weekend in south Devon tomorrow. Going to a place with a name like the title of an Australian soap opera - Hope Cove. We usually rent a cottage when we go away, but this hotel is dog friendly & we have a room with a sea view & balcony. Going to be spoilt! I’ll report back tomorrow.

It was very soothing listening to the rain falling on the polytunnel as I picked even more tomatoes this morning. I’m now sat in the conservatory with a coffee listening to the wet rattle on the roof. There’s a good couple of mm in the rain gauge with hopefully lots more to come. 🍅💦

This was this tree guy’s first attempt at spiking. Full supervision from the team lead below, who prepped the trunk in advance so he could have a go. I sent him my pics so he could show his mum. He did a good job. I hope she’s proud. 😁

A big day. The 2 large conifers that provided a screen at the bottom of our garden since we moved here have gone. The ceanothus, the fig tree, & the acer are now large enough to take over that role. They & other plants in this part of the garden will now receive the light & moisture they need.

Very lazy Solheim Cup Sunday with various family members coming & going. 6 + a dog currently here. Our German nephew is cooking his special curry for dinner. If it tastes as good as it smells… 🤤Just took a stroll round the garden. There is still plenty of colour out there.

Apparently any response from Highways is likely to take up to 10 days. Our Reform CC to give him his due, has previously reverted in hours, even at the weekend. We have now reached the rolling and edging stage of the pothole repairs outside our house.

This morning the county council contractors are finally fixing the potholes in our road. The road is fully closed off - no-one in & no-one out. Can’t really moan as it needs doing, but choosing bin day was probably not the best idea. ☕️

I have a hot composter acquired during lockdown. It takes all our food waste, keeping it away from animals, and grass cuttings. 2 cold compost bays in our garden plus 2 more on the allotment.
