I will not only be relieved but truly *ecstatic* to be wrong, if more and better studies soon start showing that AI actually improves learning and cognitive motivation. But so far they all show the opposite, and that is consistent with the evidence that I and other educators are seeing on the ground

Why were we surprised? Israel and their God have been big on genocide for more than 6000 y The response to the Oct 7 attacks was biblical, probably something they’re proud of. They and Hamas deserve each other. Death & more death. #nobelpeaceprize Pillay deserves it, for calling things by their name

The founding fathers of the U.S. wanted a king president. Now they have one... I didn't seem to occur to them that a situation might occur where he turns out to be a complete bastard, and the other branches of government suffer from a complete lack of testicular fortitude.

Life has changed dramatically in the last 30 years. We all use the internet far more, and are far less likely to read books, host friends, attend parties, play cards, attend classes, join clubs, go to picnics, and stay late to work. www.derekthompson.org/p/the-death-...

Does the U.S. Secretary of Defense (“war”) really talk like this? America has really unlocked the maximum level of embarrassing. Are they even aware of what they have done to themselves; the amounts of respect they have lost In the world? He could only top this by undressing and pissing on the stage

Ladies and Gentlemen, a Muslim politician... When Erdogan finally crosses the Jordan (it can't be too long now, he's 72), perhaps Turkey can turn its back to totalitarianism & fundamentalism, and re-embrace modernity as Atatürk did. And finally join the EU where it belongs.

On the other hand, I didn't believe that Obamacare would get passed, either. Or that Obama would get elected, for that matter. Perhaps, in the words of Samgee the wise from the Shire, there is still good in this world, and it is worth fighting for.

Common sense the average American mind is simply inured to, somehow. Maybe in a century or two they will understand the benefits, to all, of universal healthcare. El-Sayed (Sanders, etc.) are fighting a frontline fight here.

They have completely lost the plot on what is “creepy” and what isn’t. Perhaps because they’re creeps. Zuckerberg said long ago that we should all forget about “privacy”. That should have been a giveaway.

A “chatbot” cannot have “chats” with you, because it does not know what a chat *is*. It does not *reply* to you, because it does not know that words have meaning and refer to a world. It does not know that there *is* a world outside of its dataset. You’ve been having conversations with a doorknob
