man claude can really go down some rabbit-holes trying to "verify" weird UE C++ idioms that would have been trivial for me to just test (in this case templated Cast<> functions where the types are all predecl'd and finding the actual headers/etc is quite hard). goodbye ~10% of session tokens...

A programming lesson that's been hammered into my skull is to not try to create a general system until you've implemented AT LEAST a handful of one-offs the system is supposed to support. Otherwise you waste endless time fighting with and refactoring your "general" system.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you design a system and 50% of its users are using it wrong, that is not user error. You cannot blame users for that, you built a terrible system.

Wouldn’t be surprised if every GenAI video service is hemorrhaging money (and Gen3D too). Despite all the noise, the market is just inherently small, and the content is not good enough.

the robots ported my ModelGrid C++ library to Typescript today, and made a basic little in-browser editor. Thought this tech was going to be dead (it's trapped in an Unreal plugin) but now maybe not... (clearly some face-normal issues, though...)

a significant challenge in claude-coding is just figuring out good ways to describe things in words. Abstract high-level concepts, very precisely identifying (eg) UI elements, explaining observed behaviors, giving things good unique names, etc. Perhaps time to bring back Technical Writing classes

so weird that claude code can handle dealing with huge amounts of code in a programming project, but asking it to copy text verbatim from one webpage to another is beyond it. Seems like it just can't help itself, it's compelled to copy-edit my writing.

interesting to see claude code struggling at a graphics thing...as a point of comparison, I've been using it (for ~8 hours total) to build an entire web app that generates tutorial/docs pages from images & text placed in an infinite canvas. It has basically worked 100%...blowing my mind a bit tbh!
