Not for nothing, but I sure wish like hell there was a place near me that required masking. How amazing to not feel like the last souls on earth doing so.

We got both kids Covid vaccines (littlest kid yesterday!) and I thought it might not happen this year. Pediatricians won’t carry it (ironically I was told they don’t bc parents should choose), nor does public health. Kroger proved the only option and I suspect it’s partly because of this.

Losing Annie Dillard really is a devastating loss. The Living is an overlooked piece of classic American literature that I think about more often than I can explain. Maybe growing up in those dense forests made my love for the book inevitable, but I don't really think so.

Someones clearly decided "repertoires" is the scholarly word of the moment. It's suddenly everywhere, which I find fascinating.

I’m watching The Ultimatum and keep thinking about this lil “crisis of masculinity” we have going on. Every man is looking for what they genuinely describe as a “submissive woman” to cook and clean oh and she has be insanely fit. Maybe, MAYBE, it is, as my daughter says, an issYOU and not an issME.

Tomorrow is the start of my local rec center’s women’s volleyball league and, for the first time, I’ve organized a team. I loved playing volleyball as a girl and over the past few years, volleyball has become my own amazing daughter‘s entire world, my inspiration. She rubbed off on me.

Everyone who knows me, knows that my favorite genre is Sad Book About Sad People, in which little happens. I've just gotten Paul Yoon's Etna, which is a Sad Book About a Sad Dog and I'm genuinely so scared to start it. The sadder the world gets, the harder it is to read the sad things.

Finding kid vaccine news and, eventually, the vaccines themselves, was my other full time job from 2020-2022. Finally getting those vaccines into my children, especially my two-year old whose whole life had been covid at that point, was the first time I took a real, deep breath of air.

Guys, squeeze in: I found the magical middle of the political Venn diagram. It's...AI data centers. We all hate them. A developer brought a plan for an AI data center to Pocatello's city council. Hundreds flooded in, the farthest right, the farthest left, united in hate. The plan got rejected.

A book club that I once attended read JAMES and had a long convo about abolition that lead to a long convo about enslavement and several people felt strongly that the country should have done something to better manage that time. Only one other person had even heard of Reconstruction.

I read the focus group, against my better judgement, and I know there are bigger things I should focuse on but I can't move past the idea that we should stop paying property taxes once we've paid off our houses. What. I mean. Does one stop using roads, sewers, fire stations, street lamps, schools
