We set up an experimental ‘lure’ producing a pheromone hoping to attract Six Spot Burnet moth in a grassland habitat hosting a few Ragwort (Senecio Jacobaea) plants. Pleased that within ten minutes it had two. 😃 @savebutterflies.bsky.social @europebutterfly.bsky.social @bsbiscotland.bsky.social

Searching for Northern Brown Argus eggs on their food plant Rockrose with reasonable success in east Perthshire. A good day for several species, Meadow Brown, Common Blue, Grayling, Small Heath, Red Admiral, Ringlet and several damselflies. @savebutterflies.bsky.social @bsbiscotland.bsky.social
A worn adult Northern Brown ArgusSearching for the food plant RockroseThree eggs on one leaf contrary to most guide books. The leaves are approx 10-15mm long and the eggs approx 1 mm diameter.

First of the second visits undertaken on an arable coastal square for @btoscotland.bsky.social @bbs-birds.bsky.social great to see several whitethroat and numerous Skylark together with Dunnock, Linnet, corn bunting and several others.

I’ve been surveying this square for @bbs-birds.bsky.social @btoscotland.bsky.social For several years now. This is undoubtedly the lowest count ever. Only three species, Red Grouse, Meadow Pipit and Two Raven. Water table very low T least the burn is running.

Another Upland Rover @bbs-birds.bsky.social tetrad counted. Nice range of species Common Sandpiper, Raven, Dipper, Black Grouse, Curlew, several Snipe and Lapwing to name a few.

Urban survey today @bbs-birds.bsky.social. 22 species within a 1 km square. Wren to Herring gull. Birds heard but not seen, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, & Greenfinch. Notable increase in Feral pigeon numbers. Always a pleasure to rise early and walk these transects.

First @bbs-birds.bsky.social survey for the season. Clear mild morning although the rising sun was blinding me as I commenced. First time I recorded Grey partridge likely breeding. Observed most winters in stubble but seldom seen once crops grow. One of two pairs observed.
