That the shadows were attached to Lord Darren made them somewhat comforting to Maedlynn. They occasionally reached out to her and grazed the slumbering corners of her mind. They were strange and wonderful to, their message vague and only sometimes concerning: LOOK #books #booksky

Working on poetry to put in my memoir SWIMMING UP STREAM. Looking good, if I do say so, and I do say so.

Agatha was never bothered by giant shouting men; she was only ever bothered whenever there was a bit of breakfast left over and no one to eat it. She loved big men, because they had big appetites, especially for anything she put down in front of them. #books #booksky

She would miss Lord Darren most of all, but Agatha advocated for her happiness, and she should never again find so ardent a supporter. She almost wished Agatha was going to visit Mr Hawksley instead; she might wring him out and fold him into her chest. There would be no finding him again. #booksky

And there I thought the people working on it were mindless slaves to some shadow lord.” Darren would not have smiled for the world. “Pleased to make your acquaintance.” #booksky

They saw nightjars out on their crepuscular jaunts, a few deer wandered toward the brush, and fireflies floated about. The woods themselves felt alive. The limbs of old trees groaned, owls crooned, and even the cracks of old stumps were a haven for moths, some with wings as large as a hand. #booksky
