And it went full circle, as I was fortunate to supervise Hannah Gertloff in her internship. Without her dedication to re-doing/cleaning up the analysis, digging deep on some statistical questions we had and jazzing up the figures, I do not know when/if this would have become a preprint!

He allowed me to pursue this wacky idea I had on my own and provided me with technical support as well as great, open, non-hierarchical supervision, without which this paper would never have come to be. I think this very positive experience also helped me along in my research career! Thanks Lars :)

If you are a pianist and want to take part in this trippy experiment/experience, give me a shout! part of this project was my undergrad thesis that I completed in 2015 at the @ruhr-uni-bochum.de under the great supervision of Lars Kuchinke...

Further, professional pianists were generally better than amateurs (duh!) and all participants were better in the auditory than the visual task. Another piece of evidence that visual dominance in humans may not be absolute, but task dependent.

Participants had to name either what they heard or what they saw. We found evidence for a congruency effect regardless of sensory modality and participant professionalism, suggesting a multisensory integration of sound and vision when perceiving chords.

Incredibly, I just submitted a paper that has been 11 years in the making, based on my undergrad thesis! Honestly did not think this would still happen for this sweet little piece of science 🥹 As we say in German: Was lange währt wird endlich gut! Stay tuned for preprint + publication #stroop #piano

Absolutely wild that, in the year of our lord two-thousand and twenty-five, there's a new research article that calls women "females" but calls men "men"
Risk factors for anxiety disorders and environmental influences
Sex

Females are twice as likely as men to suffer from an anxiety disorder. The cause of this could be a genetic or neurobiological difference in females (Table 1) [3].
