We mostly just use our ikea induction hotplate instead of our gas stove. It's largely just better and we're often only using one burner anyway

Try The Shambles in NE Seattle. It's a much more laid back, and food is fantastic. There's always John Howie and Daniel's Broiler in Bellevue but I'd be surprised if their owners weren't aligned with the owner of El Goucho.

I've seen the same thing happen with teams/people that had dedicated most of their careers to a particular set of sequels. They know how to take ShooterGame6 and make ShooterGame7 in a year or 2 (and are good at it!). But they have absolutely no idea how to make NewShooterGame from scratch

Along these lines too, spinning up a new project is so different than what the company and the people "there" have been doing the last 10+ years if they have a long running successful game. Many of them don't remember or even have experience starting from scratch.

Also highly recommend a pour over setup; you can start super cheap with just a grinder and a V60 style "dripper" and high quality paper filters. The grinder will be the only expensive part when you want a nice electric one; but you'd need that for espresso too. (Assuming you have a kettle already)

I see this guy all over the place in Epic’s example maps. I’m curious, why a lizard head? I feel like there’s some kind of story here, but I have no idea what it is.

When we bought our house on one side of us our neighbors were old and didn't take care of their yard for like 5-10 years; on the other side it was vacant for 2-3 years (bungo leaderships former residence pre-sony money). We made like 4-5 blackberry cobblers that first summer, it was kinda great.

I chime in because at some point Amos said something like "For this to work, you'll need to host your own CI agents". And like of course! How else are you going to prime the cache, or do an incremental build, or do distributed compilation, or all these other things we've been doing for like 25years!

Similarly, Epic's Horde is the best CI I've ever used just from a UX standpoint, but to try it out is at least half a day of effort standing up the infrastructure since it's all self-hosted. It's real unfortunate that it's so hard for others to learn from something like this.

I was thinking again about how it's a shame that so much knowledge in games is isolated to the industry. Like "bundlers" are just the asset building/cooking/baking pipelines we've had in games since at least the mid 90s, but webpack was only 2014.

We just pushed a new version of esoterica to github. This is the culmination of around 2 years of work. Massive improvements across the board but most notably a brand new and modern DX12 based renderer. If you want to build your own engine, it's a great starting point! github.com/BobbyAnguelo...

One of the scary things is that all those questions are now being fed into those private black boxes. So now they can train on those, but you can't train or learn from it without "engaging" with their product.

SteamDB's Technologies page is missing it. I put in a ticket to detect this, don't tell your coworkers. Something like ` ^.*\.sqlite$ || ^.*sqlite.*\.dll$ ` should probably find it for the game you're playing? steamdb.info/tech/
