I've been burned too often with collections of classic games. They almost always mess up the visuals in some way. Nearest neighbour uneven scaling. Look at the uneven looking health bars on both of these.

Steam Input is great because Peace Walker has terrible feeling analog stick aiming and you can corral it into being something very responsive with Steam Input tweaks. Unfortunately, it can also be a real pain to use!

it's gonna be interesting to see the response to oot remake aside from the visuals. unless they make a swerve somewhere it's looking to be highly faithful to the original. i always took the lasting impression of tp to signal that people don't actually like oot that much they just don't realize it.

Something that always bothers me about Peace Walker is how detailed Snake's face is compared to his body and anything else in the game. It doesn't even animate, it's like he's wearing a skin mask. He's got like a 5 polygon body and this ultra detailed face. Creeps me out.

IMPERFECT SCIENCE, Page 1:

An overhead shot of a crater with a building perched on its edge. There is some smoking wreckage on the opposite side of the crater and several figures stand in the center. The following panel is a slightly zoomed-in version of the same scene except viewed through a thermal camera or something similar: the figures in the crater are lit up white against the dark ground.

A wide shot establishes them as a group of lean, dark colored mechs. Several of them seem to be assembling some sort of canon, another is crouched, and another stands and looks into the distance.

“All units, in position. We have visual on the research outpost.”

“Sir!” One of the mechs interjects, addressing the one standing above them, “Got something on the sensors, it’s approaching fast!”

A two-shot of the two mechs, as the leader asks, “Another patrol?”

“Negative, just one signature–”

IMPERFECT SCIENCE, Page 3:

We see both pilots glaring at each other from two panels on opposite sides of the page. On the left, the pilot of the larger mech wears a visor over her eyes and seems to be suspended in some kind of liquid, whereas the pilot on the right has some kind of gas mask or muzzle over the lower half of its face and is seated in a more traditional cockpit. Between them, the larger mech stands tall, holding the leader of the opposing mechs by its head almost like how you might scruff a kitten.

“That outpost was evacuated hours ago, you assholes are wasting your time.” Says the pilot of the Hippolita.

“Who says we’re here for the outpost?” The other pilot responds, and there is a small insert panel where we see the two of them in thermal vision, a reticle directly over them.

The bottom half of the page just shows the two mechs barely visible as an explosion engulfs both of them.

“Ah, fuck.”

Found a discarded DualSense and a couple Xbox controllers DualSense seems fine at a glance, but the Xbox controllers have some pretty chewed up lookin' sticks Maybe I can source some sticks cheaper than importing from iFixit's US store, but with those and a clean and these things are prolly fine

i've been seeing reactions to Pat the Flip's Patreon post about his post mortem on 2XKO and i think they're very dumb lol mostly as the tl;dr of his post has been he wanted to make a hardcore fighting game, and the kneejerk to that is some shareholder brained response to not follow your passion

I ended up bouncing off 2XKO pretty quick. What I don't really care for as much are these western FGs that take too much inspiration from MvC. Too many chain attack tag fighters. The "simple" controls being convoluted with amount of buttons needed was what sealed it for me.
