I remember when Quartz produced good journalism. Now it's just another brand rendered junk with AI slop.

Everything about this is *chef's kiss* perfect. This is a newsroom struggling to understand what exactly it is reporting on.

To be fair only 4 mil of the 15 bil announcement is related to a "pre-feasibility study" for a new refinery. But it is overall a totally vacuous press release filled with myopic responses to existential issues.

This is my favorite review to date of Trip Reports. Marty Branagan certainly has some critiques of the book but I'm excited to see some of the more provocative ideas being grappled with.

Psychedelic drugs were once considered ‘revolutionary rocket fuel’, but could they be life-changing medicines?
An LSD trip can be sublime and life-changing; it can also be terrifying.

Cause if there's one thing we've learnt from the last decade of theatrical exhibition it's that all audiences really want is a reclining seat and fancy overpriced food & booze. It's not streaming killing cinema, it's this. Just make tickets cheaper guys. It's easy.

I know B2B journalism can be a real thing but jeez it also seems like a magnet for industry shills who seem deeply invested (financially and otherwise) in the business they are claiming to "report" on.

In 1976, the future leading light of psychedelic art, Alex Grey, worked at a Boston morgue. Years later, he described having sex with a corpse there as part of a piece he called Necrophilia. Then he recast what happened. I've profiled him on my Substack: matthabusby.substack.com/p/a-psychede...

Half a century ago, visionary artist Alex Grey committed an extraordinary violation in a Boston morgue and called it art. Then he became one of psychedelia’s most revered figures.

Also, no spoilers in this convo, just looking for understanding over whether such obfuscation harms the way people approach the film? Worth noting too, I'm an Iñárritu hater who's never enjoyed his work and always found it intellectually disingenuous at best and vacuous at worst.

Hey film critic bluesky. Question re DIGGER. I've read about the big "twist" (never cared for spoilers) and am wondering whether those who have seen the film think it would be better engaged with by general auds if a little more context was given in the marketing?

Watch this if you think there is no such thing as original creative expression anymore. I know it's a reenactment of the music video but for some reason I find this live version more visually striking. Feel like my eyes are looking at patterns I've never seen before. Exceptional stuff.

This particular para really stands out. Not sure how to interpret it. I've read The Tell. And I know exactly how it represents certain revelations. The most generous interpretation I can give here is one of the whether there are ethical issues in misrepresenting the story to the degree they did?

As far as I understand this is the first time Griffin has suggested the recovered memories recounted in her book weren't completely forgotten. Instead she claims in order to create a 'mystery' narrative, the story was crafted to give the impression these memories were mostly new.

Among the MANY interesting details revealed in this well-researched article, the thing that leaps out at me is the quite expansive way Griffin (and her ghostwriter Sam Lansky) explain how certain details of her story were intentionally omitted from the final book edit for structural reasons.

Appreciate that perspective! It's definitely a pro and con argument. If Albo sees that benifit from WH optics in publishing then great but other side is the harm in him appearing like this to broader Aus electorate. Guess that's the choice he made.

I understand our PM has to be respectful and reasonable in dealing with all foreign leaders that our country has relations with. What he doesn't have to do is post sycophantic selfies with racist idiots. This isn't politics, it's pathetic bootlicking.

Do not trust anyone who says politics should be kept out of music. They are either stupid or disingenuous. Music has ALWAYS been political, from the protest songs of the 60s to the emergence of punk and hip hop in the 80s. Even centuries old classical music served propogandic ends.

This entire policy was designed not with the public in mind but with police at the fore. The real policy change would be incorporating impairment tests on top of those testing positive with the saliva swab. We know the swab is riddled with false positives and impairment should be the primary factor

An image from the NSW gov press blitz celebrating their incredible policy. I wish this guy well next time he's pulled over with a car full of kids, tests positive to the roadside test, and is immediately barred from driving with kids on the side of the road. How's that anxiety now?

So forget Ketamine, Psilocybin and MDMA. The "medicine" is Spravato, Arumaya and Rysanso.
010
Rich Haridy @richharidy.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Fantastic scoop from Josh Hardman at Psychedelic Alpha. Is Arumaya going to be the commercial drug name for psilocybin? Add that to the speculation around Rysanso being the commercial name for MDMA and you've got your future prescriptions for psychedelic medicines.

If you are a legal medical cannabis user who tests positive at the roadside for trace amounts (using a test proven to be highly flawed) you still immediately lose your license for 24 hours leaving you stranded. Good luck finding your way home if pulled over in a rural area. The policy is a joke.
110
Rich Haridy @richharidy.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
First - hilarious factual error in this post from a big media outlet. 50 millilitres of medicinal cannabis hey? What does that even mean? Second - this is a weak policy that is designed to keep life easy for the police at the roadside rather than help cannabis patients.

If I had a bingo card filled with all the different rhetorical tricks people use to excuse taking a position on major issues then Ed Sheeran's recent statement would fill it immediately. It's a masterclass in cowardly evasion. I might disagree with her but at least Pink was honest about her stance

New data drop from Definium's phase 3 LSD for anxiety trial. This one is most interesting for its dose response data. Only the second dose response phase 3 read out after Compass. Here are the two readouts. Compass comparing 10mg of psilocybin against 25mg and Definium comparing 50mcg LSD to 100.

It's weird hey. Maybe Sheeran thought it wouldn't escalate to this point (threatening the whole tour)? Or yeah, maybe you're right. He thought he had more courage than he really did. Either way it's a massive insight into him as a person.

Rich Haridy @richharidy.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Unsurprising outcome. But perhaps surprising to see it so blatantly described. Ed Sheeran is the real mystery here. He would've known Macklemore was going to say those words but is he dumb enough to not see this endpoint? Why start this and not stand by it? All this from someone calling for peace.

In reality the tech is destroying the environment, wrecking neighbourhoods with data centres, decimating human jobs, and making our thinking reliant on subscription based models. But forget all that. Instead look over here at our doomsday prophecies cause our tech is just too good.

I still believe this narrative about a dangerous superintelligent AI is a conscious distraction perpetuated by AI companies as a way of distracting regulators and the general public from the real damage their technology is doing to society. This is how a tech oligarchy takes full control.
