How to avoid sexual assault! A QUICK AND EASY GUIDE*

sexual violence centre cork

1 DON'T PUT DRUGS IN PEOPLE'S DRINKS

4 WHEN YOU SEE A WOMAN WALKING BY HERSELF, LEAVE HER ALONE.

3 WHEN YOU COME ACROSS SOMEONE WHO IS DRUNK OR ASLEEP, THE BEST THING TO DO IS NOT RAPE THEM.

6 CARRY A WHISTLE. IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT RAPE SOMEONE, BLOW THE WHISTLE UNTIL SOMEONE COMES TO STOP YOU.

2 USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! IF YOU CAN'T STOP YOURSELF FROM SEXUALLY ASSAULTING SOMEONE, ASK A TRUSTED FRIEND TO ACCOMPANY YOU AT ALL TIMES TO STOP YOU.

5 IF YOU ARE IN A LIFT AND SOMEONE STEPS IN, REMEMBER NOT TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT THEM.

*for perpetrators.

I get your point, but we all pay into our benefits system across the board, & that's the kind of society I want to live in. A key point for me is those ranting about an "unsustainable" benefits bill don't consider that pensions are included, or question the drive to cut benefits for eg disability.

It was a real struggle for us on low incomes to buy our ordinary Victorian terraced house, and it is horrifying that the current care system means our kids wouldn't get the benefit if either of us need care - highly likely in my case due to my health issues. Our kids have debts we never dreamed of..

It's not robbery, it's changing how pension INCREASES are calculated which, in the long run, saves pensioners money when they need care and ensures they can still leave stuff to their children. I'm retiring soon to sole income of state pension, & want my ordinary terraced house to benefit my kids.

Absolutely. And UC already barely meets necessary costs of living, even though it's supposed to be there to ensure people can pay their rent/bills/food/childcare; and is already paid to many people who ARE in work but who receive below-poverty wages. It's not just clueless but active victimisation.
